40 mins of it left.

Embarrassing.

We have to find a way to beat these teams, draw would be a big blow.

RIP Sir Bobby

I can't see any problem with the Cambridge approach tonight other than it was inevitably unsustainable. They were 20 minutes from a 0-0. All behind the ball, no ambition up front and hoping we couldn't break them down. They tried to slow the match down but no worse than that.

Credit to us for staying patient, good subs and BELIEF.

Their keeper was wasting time in the corner of his box before the 10th minutes. I know they have to play a certain way to maximise their chances of a result, but I'm afraid that is embarrassing!

Not really, their game plan was a 0-0 and stealing a few seconds here and there was just a part of it. There was no way they were even going to PR with a smash & grab due to injuries. It was unsustainable though and I imagine their manager was aware of it.

Sh1thousery is what we've seen from Wycombe, Oxford etc, tonight Cambridge were just as practical as they could be. It was up to us to find a way through and we did. Can't really complain about Cambridge.

By just accepting that you are part of the problem! I have never seen time wasting that early in a game in 40 years. How you don't see that as pathetic is beyond me.

I saw it a few days ago, maybe not quite so blatant by Portsmouth but it was clearly a tactic they used early on. Up to us to find a solution to and we did.

Why was it embarrassing?

They couldn't afford to go toe to toe against us so tried different ways to get the result.

You weren't at Portman Road on Saturday when Portsmouth started time wasting after four minutes, then?

Yeah, other than just taking their time with set pieces, goal kicks etc, I didn't think they were that bad on the gamesmanship - none of this pretending to be injured every 5 minutes that we've seen from the likes of Oxford in recent seasons.

The way they set up was bloody frustrating, no doubt about it, but we'll see more teams trying it over the season.

Happens every home game. Cambridge were no different.

The officials were supposed to be clamping down on it this season, but have been pathetically weak as usual.

They didn't seem to have much intention of attacking from early no did they.

Surprisingly that didn't seem to change even when they were trailing.

Though thought the referee was decent tonight - and part of that was down to Cambridge not trying to con him.

Not sure they had it in them to be fair.

After the first goal it was damage limitation, if they’d started trying to play it the score line could have got very ugly for them!

It looked like damage limitation from 0-0!

A completely different side to the one that held us before at their place.

Agreed.
They didn't seem to know how to change formation, so set in their ways that they couldn't play any other way.

On the whole he was decent to be fair.

But the timewasting that goes on every single home match is ridiculous…. Until we score. For reason the opposition are in a bit more of a rush then.

I actually thought they looked better through the middle and up front than Portsmouth!

He was, perhaps, a little bit slow on getting the ball out, but nothing to get riled up about.

It wasn't like last year when the keeper was sitting on his @rse every five minutes claiming cramp or injury.

I think we have come to expect so much timewasting and shthousing from visitors to FPR now that there is a tendency to jump right on even the smallest examples of it.

They did in the first half. They defended really well and looked dangerous on the break. It might sound a bit odd given that Pompey somehow scored two and Cambridge scored none, but I thought Cambridge looked more likely to score than Pompey ever did.

I didn't think Cambridge were that bad, certainly not a case of players going down every 3 or 4 minutes.
They came to frustrate and hit us on the break, remember last season they played that style and got a result.
