Totally correct.
Unfortunately we still had conspiracy theory rubbish posted on the forum as recently as two days ago. It's just something that's not going away and if anything they are becoming more insidious and dangerous.

Whilst the ruling is good, it is sad that the families wont get anything near the ruling, but I honestly think most of the would be more interested in the fact he's been shut down and held accountable.
On the other hand, he is probably now a kind of martyr for the impressionable he's poisoned for years whilst essentially conducting the worst kind of 'you tube pranks' imaginable. |  |

Marjorie Taylor Greene and others have said Jones has been denied his 1st amendment rights.
No he hasn't.
He can say still what he wants but It'll cost him. In this case $1bn.
My advice to him is to keep his mouth shut but he won't.

As a gross simplification, I was under the impression that the 1st amendment in the bill of rights protected people's rights to free speech against the government. That is to say, the government can not file a case against someone for airing their grievances, but the private citizen is a different kettle of fish.
I do hope this ruling gives people the motivation to challenge, and win, against large scale social media platforms that have not only let conspiracy theory rubbish become the mainstream for so long, but have allowed ad space and promoted viewing of such tripe. (Facebook with a hint of twitter, tik tok, etc etc.) [Post edited 13 Oct 2022 8:37]
