Sadly yet again weve gifted 3 points to a side that came for a point. 17:34 - Oct 15 with 1218 viewsArnieM

Very poor defending by us. How long did that Lincoln player stand at that back post , totally unmarked?

Sloppy play ( slow, cross field pass , my gran could have cut out) that led up to the serial of Lincoln corners.

No clearing of our lines when the ball is spooned in the air. Where’s the defensive Marshalling??

One paced build up from us every game. I think we have become all so predictable. Opponents know exactly what we are about now. And they are changing THEIR tactics…. We need to mix it up a bit more.

We upped our pace afte they scored. So why not before ? Why not a more direct pass, or more direct run through the middle occasional? We started to do it in the second half.

We had no pace to run AT them until he made the changes. But why wait until nearly 70 mins again.. they KNOW that’s what we’ll do.

Don’t get me wrong we have a helluva squad , and are playing some lovely stiff, but NO team has beaten us in open play via their own means. We have always gifted soft goals, and we did again today.

Having said all that I don’t think it was written in the stars for us to score today. Coildn5 hit a barn door from 2 feet.

Watching the replay of the goal back, Jannoi 100% switched off and was ball watching for what seemed like ages - 5-6 seconds at least. He'll be disappointed with that. He'd no idea where their man was, didn't look around once. Even if you're zonal marking you have to be aware of what's around you. Good play by their player to pull off him and find a yard of space though - not that it was hard for him to do!

I don't see a problem with the rest, other that we're a bit one dimensional (overload and try to work the ball out wide). Normally it works. We needed more composure in front of goal again today for it to work .

personally I think we overthink and overplan games. KM often says teams start differently to expected, which then makes the opening period slow and pedestrian as we try to work out the spaces. It's high level coaching and one which will do KM very well in the years ahead, BUT to do that you need 100% concentration by all players up until that point of understanding where and how we are going to attack them. Having league 1 players open us up to mistakes as people have pointed out, and it's not something that;s going to go away due to the level we are playing.

It's a tough one, on our day we play the best football seen at this level, but it's only good enough if you win the game.

I don't feel we are getting enough from Burns, Chaplin im surprised he won the player of the month as i've felt he's been off for a few weeks, harness is hot and cold and same with ladapo which is well known. Today for me was a start for jackson, be an option for ball in behind, make their defence drop to try and stop that - this would then open up gaps infront for our forward line.

We actually got done twice at the far post, very soft

I'm surprised more sides haven't done us from set pieces to be quite honest

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I thought Donacian looked out of sorts all afternoon tbh and why were his socks rolled down the whole game?

He wasn't at his best. Picked up second half a bit, but still a bit sloppy with his passing. He's got a lot of credit in the bank though and they're not machines. We all have off days.

I thought he always has his socks at half mast. Maybe he's taken it to the next level (unlike his playing today).

My only concern with McKenna is he seems to take the "Plan B is to do Plan A better" when it comes to the subs. We were struggling to hold it up up front; why not try Ladapo alongside John-Jules in a front two for a bit? Have two strikers bother their centre backs instead of one. Even if John-Jules had come on for Harness, he would have probably played as a number ten.

And the timings too - it's always between the 60th and 70th minute. Subs can be made earlier. I thought we looked pretty flat in the second half and were clearly not creating anything of merit, yet it's still hang on until the 65th minute (give or take).

We lost today because of a slight fluke plus we left our shooting boots at home. But I wish we'd try different things out when it's not working, earlier.

These sort of games pass wes by. Lincoln were scared to death of Edwards running at them. Fir all the good footballers we have only Edward's is one who can dribble, drop a shoulder. Defenders hate players running at them. Please buy another dribbler please KM. Exactly what you need in a game like this.

Maybe I should re phrase. Sadly yet again we’ve gifted soft goals to the opponents ( as opposed to gifting points at home - that’s not what I meant ).

My point being, no team this season has taken us apart to score against . It’s usually US giving a soft free kick ( that leads to a goal)… or poor defensive decisions ( that’s gifted an easy, often against run of play), goal.

Lincoln did not have to “work” to get that goal today. He could have juggled from foot to foot and done a few uppies before he put it in the net because there was no Town player making any kind of challenge. It’s basic defending .

This bugs me though. Do Plymouth have this perfect squad, full of players to lead the table by four points at this early stage in this season?

they hated Burns last year as he did what Edwards did when he came on

Burns regardless people trying to defend him every week, just isn't the same player as last season. It's not about being marked out the game, he just isn't taking games to teams when he gets the opportunity. Davis and having a left side, doesn't come into that either, it's about individual performance and he's just not doing it.

Exactly . Mix it up a bit. We are predictable . Opponents KNOW what we are going to do. So we need to change it!

Camera looks like he can do that from his highlights, so should be a boost. These are also the games where We miss Celina or Aluko.

The only Muff in Town.
