If three teams (us, weds & Plymouth) were to run away at the top 16:12 - Oct 22 with 1920 views | FromReuserWithLove | are we all at peace in knowing what team will narrowly miss out? That team then losing to 6th placed Derby in the play offs
If three teams (us, weds & Plymouth) were to run away at the top on 16:15 - Oct 22 with 1892 views | GlasgowBlue | Was interesting listening to Phil and Rich's interview with Ian Westlake. He said that we were beaten before a ball was kicked in the semi final against West Ham, such was the disappointment of finishing 3rd. Even though we won the first leg there was no belief in the team.

Yes that was crazy. Remember that game well and the flat feeling of inevitability. Watching the Wrexham doc highlighted how emotionally draining a league campaign can be.
If three teams (us, weds & Plymouth) were to run away at the top on 16:57 - Oct 22 with 1732 views | Nthsuffolkblue | We know the rules at the start of the season, and we need to be better than the rest and make sure we go up. If Derby get their act together, finish 3rd on goal difference to the top two and then lose the play-off final to Exeter who finish 6th with 20 fewer points then, yes, I would enjoy that! Of course, if your question is "is that fair?" we all know the answer but many things in football are not fair.

Wilnis said the same in his book. Although we didn't win the first leg that year, it was a 2-2 draw.

The volume at Upton Park for the second leg! That was something else.

Yup. I was there. Sat in the away end. It was very impressive in hindsight, although I wasn't quite thinking that at the time.

We finished fifth in 03/04 when we won the first leg 1 0 but lost 2 0 away. In 04/05 we finished well clear in 3rd (13 points or something ridiculous ahead of WH in 6th) and drew the first leg 2 2 at UP but lost 2 0 at home in the second, think it was Zamora that did for us? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

We were, I remember thinking before the game that night we had no chance just because the whu fans were so up for it.

Sliding doors moments though in that 2004 2nd leg. Darren Bent had a 1 on 1 saved in the first few minutes at Upton Park. I can still see West Ham getting their 2 goals, but just imagine how good it would have felt if Westy's late shot had gone in to give us a 3-2 aggregate win.
