And yet just a few days ago people were on here criticising the police for not doing enough to stop the disruption and not taking action. I guess it's a case of 'can't win' really.

Arresting journalists and preventing them from reporting on events doesn't have anything to do with whether they are doing enough or not doing enough about the protests. It is a fairly fragrant breach of free speech though, the sort of thing you might expect to happen in Russia, but it should not happen in a country that prides itself on its free press.

No it isn't this is the police arresting journalists for reporting. That's appalling on it's own terms but then gives authoritarian regimes around the world cover to point at us when they do the same with far worse consequences for the individuals involved.

As others have said, arresting journos who are doing their job is v different to arresting protestors who are causing crashes one of the UKs biggest roads. She shared her press card, something she had no obligation to do but understandably did so as any right thinking person would expect that would difuse the situation in 30 seconds. Unfortunately digesting the information required some degree of thought so just chuck her in the van. Police complaints rarely lead to any action or have any severe impact on one's career so why worry. [Post edited 9 Nov 2022 17:24]

But a better response than what the actual police offered up as I witnessed a bloke kick the sh1t out of a woman outside my house a couple of weeks ago at 1am. ACAB is an institutional statement. [Post edited 9 Nov 2022 22:52]
