Yup, that was the consensus before the game in our bit.
Club over country innit on 08:56 - Dec 11 with 1265 views | J2BLUE | When you look at it logically and consider all the factors (good chance of winning it if we went through, Town would have 25 games to recover, signings in January etc) the only logical choice is an England win. Just proves football taps into something deeper because I couldn't bring myself to pick England over Town (obvious exceptions apply. England winning the final over Town winning pizza cup etc).

Get a grip. The way you go on about America, I’d have expected you to have been supporting them against us in that 0-0.

I really don’t understand all this, I’m happy Ipswich won, gutted england lost, but why are people trying to link the two? They have no bearing on each other whatsoever.. surely just say, I’m really happy Ipswich won today, but I’m disappointed england lost?

I'm not the one banging on about club over country to try and prove a point and saying it was good day. If you're an English football fan it was hardly a good day because we beat Posh in league 1. This is a team that has a very good chance of winning the World Cup so it was fairly devastating and this tournament is every four years. If you're just an Ipswich fan and don't care about England then maybe it was. [Post edited 11 Dec 2022 22:48]

I don't blame you for downvoting me Ulla. You're a Norwich fan. England are your only hope!

Out of interest, would you prefer Ipswich won the champions league or England won the World Cup? For me it’s Ipswich. I’d have Ipswich over England every day of the week. That’s just me. We won yesterday and went top of the league so it was a good day. England losing was a disappointing side note but that’s it. ‘Club over country’ actually trended on Twitter today so I’m not the only one with that mindset clearly. And for what it’s worth, I agree we had a ‘very good chance’ in the sense that we got to the quarter final. We then played the best team in the world. And lost. That’s football.

Us as in England. You can support both you know? It’s just for me Ipswich takes major precedent. Seeing as the England players are on 300k a week most of them, have millions of followers, sponsorships and brand deals. They’re all premier league elite players. As am Ipswich fan, none of these players are ever on our wavelength. Add to that the fact that I go to most Ipswich games and have only ever been to one England game in my life and it further highlights my feeling of link. Ipswich are MY team. I chose them. England is just because I’ve English. So perhaps that’s why for me it will always be club over country.
