Moving the ball quicker, that was the difference. 12:21 - Jan 25 with 1874 viewscbower

First half we moved the ball much quicker than we have been with purpose and intent. Clarke and Broadhead brought an intensity we have been lacking and that rubbed off on Burns, Chaplin, Ladapo and Morsy in the first half. Both Broadhead and Clarke showed a willingness to shoot, taking opportunities we often turn down, opting instead to recycle the ball from side to side. The early goal really helped but Evans' shot which struck the post helped set the tone. Combined with tighter play from Morecombe, we understandably dropped intensity and tempo 2nd half and it fell a bit flat. Incidentally, when we moved it at pace on Saturday, we scored and also created Hirst's excellent chance. Possession with intensity is where it's at!

Agreed: Possession with intensity is where it's at! we also appeared to be deciding when to turn it up and down which is next level and potentially not afforded to us at this stage by better teams. Very promising signs that the new players really add something we didn’t have enough of.

In recent games both Woolfy and Dona have slowed the game down allowing other side to regroup.
They’ve preferred to recycle or pass sideways and maybe this is why Burns hasn’t been so effective this season.
Both of them need to raise their game and connect with the attack.

The ball only moved quicker because they committed men forward and left huge holes.

Which they had to do, because we got the early goal by pushing right from the off.

Yeah that was massive. Any thoughts they might've had to play for a point went out the window in minute 1. They had to come out and try and play a bit and we exposed them.

They're the sort of games where if it's still 0-0 at half time and they can get in and regroup they become very hard. The 2nd half can soon get away with substitutions, a bit of time wasting, 'injuries' to kill any rhythm or flow and before you know it 75 minutes is up and crowd are becoming restless.

Wasn't the difference also.....well, Morecambe. Never seen a team pass the ball straight to us so many times!!

And yet they came into the game on the back of a good run I believe. But whatever it was a great night .

Totally infuriates me when we allow the ball to stop moving, which we do way too much particularly at the back. 1st off Tuesday we didn't once. 2nd half back to being ponderous. We are a far better side when on front foot.

Well yes but a lot more understandable second half with the big lead , KM said that the clean sheet was the biggest priority after halftime .

It also really helped that neither Morsy or Evans sat deep and they broke up many attempts from Morcambe of breaking forwards.

There was a lot more movement from those two Tuesday imo and that was a big difference in our play.

With Keogh and Edmundson at the back , we looked more direct with less of the playing out from the back which gives teams time to defend in numbers .

Thought Keogh had a really good influence on the game as a whole .

With the2 new players playing so well , we look like a team that can attack at speed ,much better !
