One of the main underachievers, yes.
It still baffles the mind that Needham Market and Leiston have bigger football infrastructures than Bury, Stowmarket and Sudbury.

I think it says a lot when players bring their young families to Suffolk and Norfolk and not just the player but the wife decide to stay here when the playing career is over. We are lucky to live in this part of the world. |  | | |

I don’t know, but there was a time 10 or so years ago when they seemed to got a bit of investment and move up the leagues. Then it all went flat.
They’ve had aspirations to grow for almost as long as I’ve been around (I grew up there 40+ years ago) but have never really got very far. The population is only 35000 and with Ipswich only 30 mins away it would take something for them to grow very much I reckon. Would love to see them get into the conference one day. Can’t help but think they should be way above the likes of Nedham and Leiston, both who seem to overshadow them in terms of on field success. | |

I hope Chambers doesn't go there. It's always been Chambers as the leader and Skuse as his right-hand man. Time for Skuse to be the main man. Can't say I'm a huge Skuse the player fan..... but I've heard stories about him that he's a great guy and always preferred him to Chambers. Good luck to him. | | | |

I don't think they have more infrastructure - Leiston in particular simply seem to have been reliant on a generous backer.
In terms of infrastructure I would say Sudbury are possibly the best — they have a really good youth system and quite a lot of first-teamers are coming through now. It's taken a few years to come good, but next season they'll be at the same level as Leiston and Needham and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go further up the pyramid at some point.
Lowestoft are arguably the biggest underachievers, being from the biggest town after Ipswich. |  | | |

Live in Sudbury. Have done nearly all my life. . Hate AFC Sudbury with a passion. So do many who live here hence the low attendance figures compared to what Sudbury Town FC got. [Post edited 12 May 2023 19:17]
