No more 45 minute halves on 16:58 - Aug 4 with 1270 views | Zx1988 | Good to see a genuinely useful rule change coming out of the EFL for once. The whole slate of adjustments should be for the good of the game, so long as they don't get forgotten about within the first two weeks. My only reservation is around the enforcement of the rule that players must leave the pitch for treatment etc., except for in the case of a serious injury. It seems far too open to interpretation, and I don't think any referee is going to want be making a judgement call on what is serious or not.

No more 45 minute halves on 16:59 - Aug 4 with 1274 views | Cheltenham_Blue | From the IFAB Rule adjustments on timekeeping: Match officials will also be taking a more robust approach to dealing with clear/deliberate actions that are impactful in delaying the restart of play, with players cautioned if they are guilty of: Delaying the restart of play Failing to respect the required distance at free-kicks. Remember when they did that before for failing to retreat 10 yards? Just resulted in booking after booking as the team with the kick just twotted the ball into the defender, then they scrapped it.

I vaguely remember as well as / instead of the booking at one time when that happened, the ball would be moved forward ten yards for the free kick to be taken.

Yep, Only ever saw it happen a couple of times. Again, scrapped after one season.

No more 45 minute halves on 17:44 - Aug 4 with 1075 views | Garv | Slightly unnecessary and will just make for more scrutiny on officials, because they don't have enough already apparently, and more complaining about too much time being played, or not enough.

No more 45 minute halves on 19:55 - Aug 4 with 830 views | Nthsuffolkblue | What would be really useful would be for the timing to be done off-field, the clock to be stopped for things such as substitutions, treatment, etc. and then the stadium clock to run until 45 minutes and the end of the half/match announced with a hooter.

No more 45 minute halves on 21:03 - Aug 4 with 705 views | Pinewoodblue | Judging by the first 45 minutes of tonight's game players are going to take a while to get used to the new rules. Might be worthwhile, for those who travel by rail, to consider a later train.
