Wrote the below earlier on first decent views of the pitch.
Also in the video you can see some of the facilities upgrades.
The blacked out Cobbold does look much classier in my view, and as stated the exec box roof been given the black treatment as well as the pebble dash and tunnel entrances.
But also what stands out from the video is the new tunnel. They’ve boxed in under the control centre building. Black cladding, white Suffolk punch logo and Sheeran tour logos. But sitting in the wide entrance is the retractable tunnel!!
Sitting in this new lobby now… but assume will be pulled out… revealing a larger lobby area for players to congregate before heading into the tunnel.
Not that I’m obsessed by these stadia changes or anything?!?

Certainly lads seemed to also be wearing very short studs.
Will be further growth with last nights rain and this mornings sun. But imagine they might have another trim!

Nice post and I don’t think you’re alone in being interested in all the upgrades. Last season the club put out a little video about some of the changes before the first game so it would be nice to have this again today or on Friday.

Good to know others are equally engrossed with all things facilities upgrades.
Totally agree Town TV needs some content on these changes, the coverage of the pitch upgrade has been poor. That mush money, and very little coverage.. I want to know about the big new water tanks next to the Cobbold for one.
But yes a highlights video on Friday summarising all the positive change would fit hte bill, and sate some of our Portman Road upgrade data needs

From Phil’s article, the short turf goal is confirmed below:
Will it play faster than the previous pitch? “Yes, we were constantly on at the ground staff last year about cutting it. Ground staff want it as long as possible so they can protect the pitch but we want it as short as possible so we can have it nice and quick.
“With the technology that they’ve put into the pitch, it should play quick. It should play quick consistently through the year, that’s the idea of it because it’s stronger and it’s reinforced underneath, so it should be able to have a lot of consistency through the year and be a good pitch throughout the year.” | |

I only just realised why the cobbold looked so different (apart from the black rendering) and its no advertising on the roof of the exec boxes. I guess they will be back come kick off.
The pitch looks fantastic from most angles, yet in some places has some weird straight line ribs in it. I guess it will get better as it beds in. | | | |
