I've had four beers (which at 40 years old is the same as 10 beers at 20 years old) and a belter of a weekend (grandparents had the kids the whole time and i got to put together loads of furniture while listening to an 80s playlist on spotify) and then he went and played like that.

I've championed Burgess since midway through last season. The thing I like most about him, is that he is still improving under KM.
We have other central defenders that are showing less improvement, even though they are decent enough, atm, their progress seems to have stalled. Perhaps, already reached their ceiling?
Imo, Burgess and Baggot are the two CBs that could just keep on improving, to a very high ceiling. |  | | |

My man of the match yesterday was another Aussie, Massimo Luongo who was immense both defensively and attacking-wise. Indeed, it was his great ball down the line to Davis which led to the goal.

I always thought he deserved a chance, as did they all. Big, brave, good in the air, left footed. Some wrote him off as not good enough before a ball was kicked. I’m pleased he’s made such a good start. |  | | |

I don’t think many people considered CB our biggest weakness. CB is great and he’s there on merit. Long may it continue.
There is a narrative that he’s an unsung hero. A player that people don’t appreciate. And there are a lot of posts that evidence this.

Love Burgess, and think he’s playing well.
But I do think McKenna thinks we need strengthening at centre back, hence Axel has been brought in.
Axel is Premier League quality, is perhaps now our highest player, and when fully fit will be a starter.
But with Burgess probably off to the Asia Cup we need cover! |  |

OP: I’ve always maintained Cam Burgess is our best CB. He’s a no. nonsense CB who does the basic art of centre half defending down to a tee in my book. We stopped leaking goals as soon as he came into that position, and we missed him when he had that bad facial injury. |  |
