Wish him all the best. Horrid time with injuries lately. But can't forget he was up until injury one of the reasons we started last season so well

Can't help thinking that is the last we see of him.

He won't be back in time to cover the Morsy and Luongo call ups which means we could well be getting a loan or even splash some money if the right sort of player is available in January. Even if he was to get back running by then, I'm not sure we could rely on him to play 4 or 5 games on the trot.

Shame, he is a good player, but all teams move on.

Best of luck to him. He's always given 100% and has put in some very good performances for us at times. Whether here or, more likely, elsewhere I hope the surgery gives him a good few more years of football with no injury problems.

I don't think we can really reach that conclusion. KMac has clearly rated him as a player and a person in order to make him captain (even temporarily), and so if his op goes well and he really does get back to his previous fitness levels, then you never know.

However, January last season was a bit of a revelation, and more of an overhaul of the first 11 than I think most of us expected. All of our signings in that window really clicked, improved the side, and sent us on that amazing run to promotion in a scarily competitive top 4. So, if we do splash the cash in January, then maybe we will see some real quality come in, and those who were not expected to be ousted from the first 11 may conceivably see that happen.

But I'm not sure that there's a desperate neeeeed to buy for the sake of it. Even if Morsy and Luongo are both called up and hence missing for a few weeks:
- We have Taylor, who cost a few quid, was clearly rated by PBoro and KMac, and who we now know can hit a screamer or two from 25 yards.
- We have Humphreys, who was a revelation last time he was called upon, and who by all accounts has the attitude to step back into it if needs be.
- We have an option to recall El Miz if needs be (although hang on, what if he's called up for Tunisia!? :))
- We have Ball, who really hasn't done badly when called upon, in a variety of positions, and he is predominantly a midfielder.

So I don't think it's doom and gloom, and the League Cup run can only have been good for those fringe players who've needed competitive minutes and also time to hone their place in the system.

I hope we see Evans again, but if not, we will be just fine.

I doubt we will see him in a Town shirt again. Hope he recovers fully and quickly for his own sake.

Tuanzebe can apparently play that Morsy type holding midfield position, and assuming he is fit by then, and is the 25th squad player, then maybe Evans stays registered. If not, then Ball is the only real option as I can't see Taylor and Humphreys playing together.

If we're still near the top 2, or even top 6 come January, we would be daft not to get some extra quality in that position. I think Luongo only has a year contract anyway.
