Youth academies are not just for developing your own but also making money. Man City have let other talented young players go and they have flourished elsewhere - Cole Palmer comes to mind. | |

Famously, Pep didn't want to let him go but had to respect he wanted more first team football. It wasn't like it was a surprise he has been so good. But he was always playing third fiddle to Haaland and Alvarez, at least for a few years.

Occurred to me that Southampton will have to pay pretty big bucks to sign him and Downes before they can strengthen what they had the season that’s just gone. Similar for us I guess with Hutchison (if if if we can get him) but not to the same degree. That spend to stand still might take a fair chunk out of their budget. |  | | |
