Is it asking too much for England to play well when the Gods gave us promotion? 22:11 - Jun 16 with 1775 viewsWarkystache

Anyone else feel ambivalent to this tournament? I'm so much more excited by us and what will happen come next month and beyond.

Anything for the national side just feels like we're asking too much. Hence the awful second-half performance tonight. It's like karma.

And he should've taken Leif Davis.

Well don’t watch anymore of it then. We didn’t all give up on the season after the Leeds game did we? Frankly a mediocre performance against a tricky side who spent most of the night booting us up in the air, especially Jude and Kane.

Actually, he should have. Why not?

Alright! I'm not bothered either way. It's crap. The media make us out to be so much better than we are.

It's the same shambles as the General Election. Go mad for a party who fail regularly, or get behind one that will do exactly the same thing if they get in.

As a National filip, it's less inspiring than an early night with Ann Widdicombe.

Totally agree with you Warky.

Watched it in The Warwick in Woodbridge, fairly full pub, everyone intently watching it to start with, celebrated the goal, but by the end interest had waned considerably.

The atmosphere in the pub compared to the Coventry and Hull games was much more muted.

An enjoyable, yet much less tense evening than a few weeks ago.

Couldn’t give a stuff what the media think tbh they always spend the qualifying period moaning about why we don’t beat everyone 10-0 but as soon as we qualify we’re going to win it. Still, regardless supporting my country is pretty non negotiable whatever. I’m not expecting to be entertained. Just as well.

We all remember Italia 90 and Euro 96 fondly.

Both started with underwhelming draws.

We all need to be patient.

England winning wouldn’t even come close to the feeling of promotion. Would obviously like England to do well but I’m not that bothered.

Last night I heard too much about Bellingham. Brilliant player though he is, I can't help feeling we've been here before hanging all our hopes one 'messiah': Owen, Beckham, Rooney and when they get red carded or injured everything comes crashing down for England.

Actually, he should have. Why not?

Because Southgate prioritises the defensive side of defenders, which isn’t Leif’s strength. Plus he’s also got players like Tyrick Mitchell with 3 full seasons in the PL he could look at.

If Leif has a good season or two in the PL with stand out defending then he may get looked at.
