Really enjoyed it. A proper game. Spain were excellent. Italy hung in there and gave their best, but Spain were a different level.
Didn’t see any lethargy or tiredness there. Just players who knew exactly what they were doing and going for it. Looking forward to them playing Germany and or France. |  | | |

Great game of football.
About 15 years ago a lot of footy fans were critical of the football played by Spain during their 2008-2012 titles winning, "tiki-taka" era.
I think the main difference today, as you point out, is the attacking intent across the front line with wide men like Williams and Yamal running at and past defenders and cutting back from the byline, Morata charging through the middle and Ruiz and Rodri shooting from distance (how very unSpanish).
It would have been a crime against football if Italy had got anything from the game.
I think England have the players to play just like this, but our manager is 10 to 15 years past his use-by date.
On a positive note, this championship will probably wake up the FA to the fact we need someone new for the World Cup in 2026. Fortunately, much of the press has woken up already. |  | | |
