Jim Fraser and Neil Bath who are world class, I’m sure they’ll be off to Man Utd but getting one of them to lead ours would be the kind of thing I could see gamechanger doing, sure they’re looking for a massive upgrade there.

Chelsea have just fired the guys who built their academy on 20:01 - Jul 3 with 2593 views
What is the situation with our set up behind the scenes?
We've lost the head of recruitment back to utd and haven't heard of a replacement We let go our head of academy and haven't heard anything about a new one
Does anyone know of the roles have been filled but not announced. ( like Aluko ) or are they still open?

The Head of Academy role is still being advertised on the club's website.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Head of Recruitment has been filled but is currently working their notice or on gardening leave before they can join.
I'm sure the Chelsea set up will be in a different universe to something like ours. They will have kids from all over the world and their families being put up - as well as the pick of local youngsters. My lad spent some time at Liverpool as an u14 and even at that age there were lads from overseas.

"Most profitable" ... so they buy/sign up all the young talent and sell it on for a high profit margin. Does that actually equate to bringing through talent?

In a way yes. Academy's are built to provide future income to the club and if you get a few players from it great but the end game is to make money from producing players who can be sold for nice profits.

Indeed, doesn't that say a lot more for Arsenal's academy than Chelsea's?
Not really considering hutchinson started at Chelsea originally. They were effectively buying back what they produced to begin with. Then sold again lol.

I guess those 4 years before he was 9 were far more important than the 10 years aged 9-19 before he joined their academy for one season before he was loaned to us!

Think it's a case of both periods being important no?
Chelsea taught him at a young age and developed him as a young footballer. Arsenal developed him as a teen.
Both had a part in the player he became. Just like KM and ipswich are developing him as a senior player.
There aren't many players out there who 'make' it directly from the academy they started with all the way through to senior football. There's a lot of movement.
What is classed as success however for an academy is how many players go on and play senior football and of course how much profit has been made by academy players overall.
