We signing the Hull City allstars or not? 17:46 - Jul 9 with 2173 views | Dubtractor | Been busy in meetings all day, so only picked up brief bits of news whilst having a poo break. Seems like lots of noise, but nothing massively changed since yesterday?

There was a time when you knew you were getting old when policemen started looking young. These days I find Golf Senior sections must be getting younger. Our County Team Captain also plays so asked me to stand in for him doing admin etc on the day. I explained to the other team I was an ‘Archie Andrews’ captain, that is a puppet. I then had to explain who Archie Andrews was. To cap it all this week in conversation with another I had to fill him on Denis Compton. So Raich Carter would only interest old obsessives like ourselves Phil. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Educating Archie was 1950’s radio programme where people like Tony Hancock and Max Bygraves for instance got their opportunity as tutors to Archie. Peter Brough was a radio ventriloquist, ideal for radio because you could see his lips move. Once TV took hold he ‘retired’. It was my favourite programme as a young child and we had a holiday in Yarmouth in 1954 and they were in a theatre in Regent Street. We were in the gods and you could see his lips move from there!

...Roger De Courcey and Nookie Bear in a pantomime at The London Palladium. I think it was Cinderella. Not quite as romantic, but similar nonetheless.
