Anyone stayed there? Thinking of a couple of nights away…

Never stayed there so can't comment, but I wouldn't have thought you could go too far wrong. Been there a number of times for drinks & food, its a nice pub.

Great memories of summer afternoons/evenings sat in that little court yard bit as the adults all got pissed up and we would have fish and chip for lunch, and dinner!

We’ll be good again... one day

It's a nice pub but Aldeburgh's a bit of a nightmare in the summer

I’m a tad out of date but used to regularly pop in there and the potty bar whilst beach fishing - it was a good pub with good grub. Depends when you’re going and what you’re looking for….Aldeburgh is a bit of a hellhole in summer and slightly cut off from the rest of the world.

An off piste suggestion is the bell hotel in Saxmundham. Rather pretentiously a restaurant with rooms’. But good value and an easy drive north to Covehive, Blythburgh m Southwold etc, east to Thorpe Ness and Aldeburgh - or north to Snape , Orford (and orford island)

Can’t go wrong, it’s fine. If though you want absolute top drawer, book up the Brudenel, it’s pricey but very, very nice. The White Hart pub is just down the road, and does excellent pizza in the beer garden. If you have little ones, head off to Thorpeness for a boat ride in the Mear.

Yep and loved it. We had a room that looked over the beer garden and to the sea and it was gorgeous!

Also helps that it is one of my favourite pubs in Suffolk, so having that downstairs was perfect!

Thanks everyone, TWTD is always the go-to place for pub/restaurant/hotel advice ✌️

Noted the general Aldeburgh-in-Summer vibes – we’d be walking mainly. The Brudenell’s too expensive :-) Also appreciate the alternative suggestions.

Walk to the Sweffling White Horse or drive and walk back. If it's too far try and contact us in an emergency.

creaky floorboards and bed, so depends what you plan to do there or don’t mind such things.

Haven’t stayed there but it is a cracking little pub,I’ve spent many an hour sitting in the courtyard supping ale.
I haven’t been for a couple years mind, but there was/is a Adnams shop in Ald and I purchased a keg of Ghostship.

I knew it! Deep down, under the disgruntled exterior there is a significant redeeming feature! A fellow sea fisherman!

Check out DP's (David's Place) which is literally about 20 metres away from Cross Keys. Very nice pub and they have a superb Thai food Cafe.
