It’s weird isn’t it. Being a youth player is really difficult - you’re seen as being this plucky young thing who is excelling initially, then for whatever reason you have huge expectations put on you, more so than other players. See also:

Remember seeing Darren Bent in liquid one night, with a young Matt Richards (he’d not played for us at that point)
Being an ITFC geek I knew who he was and spoke to him. He was well chuffed someone had recognised him and brought me a beer, or WDK blue!
And Benty was taking the piss out of him for only having 1 fan.

I remember Dalian Atkinson being chuffed that I shouted 'Played Dalian' as he strode along the touchline in a pre-season friendly at Westerfield mid 80s. He would've been a second year YTS kid at that point among a load of seasoned pros.
