Not my opinion but is seems to be a growing meme on some forums. Yes he is a world class goal scorer but he does not dazzle in the dribble, score worldies and is not easy on the eye. These people seem not to understand that the point of football is to win games and to do that you must score more goals than your opponent. Halaand is IMO the best goal scorer in the world at the moment and is without a doubt a world class player.

He might not be an exciting, flair player with high amounts of technical skill, but you can’t argue with his goal scoring record, that is simply second to none. As you say, football ultimately is about winning games, with this fella in your team you’ve always got a chance.
Thomas Muller who is one of my favourite players of the last 15 years does not even have pace or power let alone flair and high amounts of technical skill. There are players in Leagues One and Two who are more gifted than Muller but they are not on the same planet as him. The difference between a good player and great player is in the mind. This video of Bayern during lockdown really shows his qualities.
When the then 18 year old Musiala makes a mistake he proverbially pats him on the back. When Coman or Lewandoski make a mistake he gives them a bolly. Great leadership.
There's something about certain players that makes them stand out from the rest. Greatest of the great were players like Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo and Messi. Technically superb. You also have the greatest of the great who are purely goalscorers such as Harlaand. Our own Johnny Wark had an ability to ghost into the oppositions penalty area and score. Just as important to the team as any player and not to be under estimated just because they don't beat two or three players and have great pace.
