Amazing how things can change. One minute you're a hero at your home ground and then the next being offside at Southend.

The offside part is a joke. Take it as a light hearted comment on how he used to be off side a lot.

Quite a few on here were saying to pay 3 million plus for him. Glad we kept our powder dry, that 1st period he was very good but was an outlier in his career.

indeed, scored a goal a game in his first 10 appearances & then managed one goal in his last 30 games, which seems impossible. Guy always seemed to work hard, but his subsequent career would indicate that he wasn't good enough. We certainly dodged a bullet there, probably thanks to KMcK.

I'll always love a home town guy who loves the club and tried his very best.
I wish him well.
No need to be negative about him.

He scored a goal a game when Frannie Jeffers was the striker coach.

Then Cook was sacked and his team, including Jeffers, departed, and the goals dried up.

If Southend have any sense they will phone him up, pronto!

Love how you have to qualify jokes on here now in fear of a pile-on.

If you are trying to pay respect to a player who loves the club and always tried his best, it doesn't feel like you are doing that when you bring up any kind of criticism.

The trouble is with Frimmers' 'joke' opinions is that they frequently closely resemble his actual opinions.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I think we all loved Bonne and most of still do of course. He was a great player for us the first half of the season and I am so glad he achieved what he did for his home town club.

Would love to see him as guest at Portman road one day or in the Fanzone.

Wishing him great success at Southend.

Certainly a decent fee was being quoted at the time but maybe nearer 2 .

QPR signed him for £2m and was out of favour. I doubt anyone would have paid £2m for him by the time he was at Ipswich....in league one.

As others have said, wanted him do to well and he did at the start. However, its a shame it didn't continue.

That. I don't get the constant need by some fans to be sneery about the misfortunes of some former players.
