They are a very good squad packed with quality in depth. The type of squad he'd be licking his lips at given how he likes to play. For the first 60 mins or so they dominated us in the manner we did teams in L1. But to our credit we hung in there and I thought in the last half hour we gave as good as we got. Defended really well and came home with a fantastic point. [Post edited 14 Sep 2024 20:36]

Arguably making him one of the best paid managers in the league. Money talks but I agree with all your other points.

When they lose a good manager they don't panic - they do their research and appoint (or try to appoint in the case of McKenna) young talented coaches that fit their ethos rather than just another clown on the merry go round looking for a payday. A model we'll need to emulate some day. But hopefully not for a while. [Post edited 14 Sep 2024 20:52]

When you’re chasing a side like Brighton in the Autumn sun and seeing very little of the ball for large periods it would be easy to tire and fatigue but we seemed to get stronger as the game went on, and elements of the same against Fulham. Changes obviously help with that but we’re incredibly well conditioned as a group.

Absolutely. Although I thought they were on a different level with their energy levels and pressing in the first half. They managed to make Delap, Szmodics and Hutchinson look lethargic.

This is my take too. So the current coach has Brighton finishing say 8th or a little better. So what? It’s all there for him and all he has to do is keep the wheels turning. Bottom half = failure. From a career perspective, there wasn’t much in it for McKenna in going to a club that’s more or less reached its ceiling. Brighton have done brilliantly. Potentially, we have it in us to to emulate or even do a little better if we can get through this season. Whatever Brighton and other successful clubs do, it’s about taking the best bits and doing it our way. From McKenna’s point of view, if we do that his CV will look as shiny as a shiny thing and he’ll undoubtably get one of the ‘big’ managerial roles he so clearly wants. It’s a great challenge for him in an environment he’s been part of building. [Post edited 15 Sep 2024 7:06]

Sir Bobby immediately dismissed speculation on more than one occasion when he was being courted by other clubs. No doubt down votes looming...

I really don't think that is the case at all. If Hurzeler keeps Brighton in and around the top 6-8 playing the type of football we have seen so far, he's going to be a wanted man next summer. I don't think anyone in the game will see it as 'oh it was pretty easy because he had the set up' in the same way nobody says that about Pep. [Post edited 15 Sep 2024 8:10]

It's common knowledge that Robson accepted the Everton job before u-turning. When it came down to it, McKenna was loyal and arguably made an emotional decision rather than a logical one to stay here.

We've got the players, we've got the manager, it'll just take a bit of time. How many times yesturday did we see Delap for example first time put ball through for Scmodics but he didn't carry his run forward, that will come.
