No VAR 12:38 - Nov 26 with 1097 views | GeoffSentence | Some people got their wish on Sunday, though only for 5 minutes or so. Fire alarm at Stockley Park meant there was no VAR for a short period before half time. Good job Omari's goal was not controversial in any way. There was a point at which the ref stopped the game out of the blue and called a couple of players over before restarting with an uncontested drop ball, I can't remember when that happened but I guess that was the point when he told the captains that VAR wasnt running.

I wondered if they had a security code or similar due to the scale of the game and recent Russian interference, but VAR outage is the real reason.

Yes, I was a little puzzled by it at the time as well. I had assumed it was some sort of technical infringement, or the ref being unhappy with one aspect or another of the game, and asking the captains to have a word with their teams.

I don't really get the clamour for in-stadium announcements about everything VAR related. Can't we just watch the game and enjoy? VAR should be there if it's needed, it shouldn't be front and centre of the sport. If people want to be completely in the loop on comms and how much stoppage time there'll be and what subs are about to be made etc, they can watch the game on TV (where possible). Not a dig at you, I just don't get the obsession with wanting to loop fans in the ground with everything that's going on. [Post edited 29 Nov 2024 16:33]

Over saturation of information. Again, not a pop at Sitters as he's no different to most other people, but we've now got almost two generations who have had complete and unfettered access to information on demand. The thirst for information is why all clubs have hugely expanded their media and content operations, in all leagues. When incidents like Saturday happen, it frustrates people if they can't find out what is happening, like following a lorry in motorway traffic and being frustrated you can't see whats going on ahead.

"complete and unfettered access to information on demand" Have you ever tried to access the internet from within FPR?
