Could / should Leif Davis play left midfield ? 01:09 - Dec 5 with 1456 views | eddiespearitt03 | Just a thought. Might be too controversial for some on this forum. The team may benefit from more attacking play down the left flank . Supplying more crosses into the box and hopefully more goal scoring chances in the box. It would give Leif more freedom and give Ipswich more threat. That could leave Hutchinson to occupy the right flank and that could be a bigger threat with pace on both flanks. We have Conner Townsend who can slot in at left back. Another point is that we could bring back our players currently out on loan . Cameron Humphreys can also hold his own at left back. . The way Leif plays he's almost a left winger anyhow. Guess if you've been training all season as a left back it's unlikely you'll move positions.

But of Davis was that left sided player, one he couldn't invert so in that case its a typical left winger which means if we are doing that then you may as well play clarke there who actually is a winger who we've decided to change his playing style to meet our own. But also Davis doesn't really use skill to get past a man so if a defender just stands off him Davis isn't really going anywhere and wouldn't be as effective.

Delap Davis Szmodics Hutchinson Cajuste Morsy Greaves Burgess O'Shea RB (Johnson, Clarke or Burns) Our left 10 at the moment doesn't really play as an out-and-out winger anyway, so asking our right 10 to do that instead - role would probably suit Hutchinson too.

But he didn’t pursue it due to a couple of injuries. I’m not adverse to the idea but I dint think mid campaign is the right time to completely rip up a game plan that has worked successfully for nearly three years.
