What’s the point?

Used to be a good way for injured players to get match fitness, but they don’t play over aged players anymore.

The youth that play in it are never anywhere near the first team.

The only one I can think of in recent years is Humphries, who is now playing in league one.

Am I wrong? Is there a reason we have a youth academy/U21s that I’m missing?

RIP Sir Bobby

I couldn't name a single player in the U21 squad. There always used to be 1 or 2 you'd be keeping an eye on.

If we're pushing for Cat 1 then I suspect we'll see some fairly substantial changes and if we can stay in the Prem we'll do what most clubs do and suck up talent from elsewhere to go into our Academy.

If we hadn't risen so quickly in the last two years then some of those currently in the Academy might be closer to pushing on.

There have been a few come through recently, but most playing elsewhere, Gibbs, Chirewa, and there are also those that were poached fairly early on, Knight, Flores, Logan. But there is a big gap between U21 football and the senior game, more so at this level. Moving to cat one and staying in the Premier League will see us recruit at a higher level and stand more of a chance of hanging on to players, although they will still go to the big clubs in some instances, just inevitable.

I can understand all of those leaving, but most of them haven't forged a decent career.

Hopefully in future we can make a better case for these players to stay, and provide a pathway to the first team.

The Prem reserve league is presumably a higher level also and you can enter your reverses into both the Tin Pot Trophy and a New Tin Pot Conference Cup I believe?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

With Delap suspended for Saturday and Hirst injured, we may well see Buabo getting a run out!

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

We won't, he's injured. Hasn't played a game this season as far as I can tell.
