Who knows? Possibly that Wednesday is too close to the following weekend's fixtures? The thin end of a "winter break" wedge?

There's a (new?) rule about Prem clubs not being allowed to play within 60 hours of another of their matches from, I think, the weekend before Christmas to the one after NYD which means Brentford and Arsenal are the only teams that can play in the middle of this week.

Same reason as all games changes. The PL and Sky couldn't give a sh1t about us fans.

No Prem New Year’s Day fixtures?! on 12:09 - Jan 1 with 1853 views | SuffolkPunchFC | It would be a tough schedule to have weekend games and both boxing day and New Year's day. 21/22 Dec 26/27 Dec 29/30 Dec 1 Jan 4/5 Jan That's 5 games in 14 days. So you either sacrifice 29/30 Dec or New Year's Day.

Don't see the problem with that. Would rather the games came thick and fast with the form we are in. Our squad could cope no problem.

If that is a rule, then it needs binning.

Our injury track record suggests otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see more games BUT other squads will have a big advantage over us with a condensed schedule.

Agree. Last season we played four matches in ten days between 23rd December and 1st January. We had injuries, illness and suspensions and ended up with two goaless draws and it ended up being quantity of matches instead of quality.

Indeed, a condensed schedule could see our form evaporated...

With only having a total of 38 league games in the Premier League, why would you want 5 of them bunched up in such a small number of days?

No Prem New Year’s Day fixtures?! on 18:39 - Jan 1 with 1002 views | ITFC_Forever | Apart from the one that is on today, no there’s no Prem fixtures. As for the wider point, the Prem haven’t played on NYD for a few years I think now.
