As great as it is that fans are being given the opportunity to, effectively, give back to Marcus, it feels a little saddening to me that, at face value at least, the club isn't doing its bit to help a bona fide club legend.
Given the amount of work that the article states needs doing, I'd be (very pleasantly) surprised if fan contributions would cover all of the work and care costs, yet I'm sure it would be a drop in the ocean for the club to make a very decent contribution.
I can only hope that the club is chipping in behind the scenes and, for whatever reason, the parties have decided not to make it public knowledge.
I have just watched the short clip of the fundraising night last week , the final clip of Marcus thanking the audience with his handclap is heartbreaking to watch , very sad indeed and tears were shed . A dreadful disease that somehow needs a cure of some sort and soon .
