FA Cup - VAR 13:04 - Feb 9 with 908 viewsZx1988

I understand the sentiment that the matches have been better without VAR.

Is it just me, though, or is it's absence broadly favouring the 'bigger' sides? Leicester on Friday, Birmingham yesterday, and Blackburn today have all been screwed over by dodgy decisions which may have been overturned by VAR.

That said, with Blackburn and Birmingham both playing at home, would they have benefited anyway if VAR was in use?

Birmingham may have benefitted from GLT rather than VAR.

True. I suppose my point extends to all forms of electronic assistance, rather than just VAR.

I think it may just be down to refereeing and assistants standards dropping without a back up of var or goal line technology. Maybe there is an unconcious bias but I also believe that that they've lost some ability to get decisions right under pressure. Again that may just be unconscious bias.

Which I suppose is a bit of a vicious circle in terms of the argument it engenders.

Officiating is getting worse, so why switch off assistance where it is available. But then the likely reason that officiating is getting worse is the prevalence of assistance.

Only PL and Championship grounds have GLT.

VAR wouldn’t have been in use in the Birmingham or Blackburn games even if VAR was in use for every round.

There should be no VAR or GLT in the whole competition if it can’t be used at every ground and every game.

Maybe if var decisions weren't so referee friendly it wouldn't be such an issue and there would be more pressure on getting the decision right in the first place.

You don't need VAR to see that Cunha is a massive C U N...ha.

Such an unlikeable player.

A lack of VAR benefitted Brighton over Chelsea yesterday.

Although I am against VAR for subjective decisions e.g. penalties, I thought VAR had its best weekend of the season so far! i.e. there were quite a few human mistakes which VAR would have corrected.

Totally subjective opinion but I think the Officials who are used to VAR now almost rely on it to avoid making certain decisions themselves.

Maybe "which VAR SHOULD have corrected" would be more accurate.
