The difference being we are not closing down and challenging the opposition quick enough.
We have to break up opponents play sooner. Too many balls into our area seem to result in a simple goal.
We find players caught out of position and opposing attackers find space in and around the box.

This put Leif in midfield thing.
Isn't one of the reasons he's so good in attacking positions is because he's the extra man on lung-bursting runs from defence? Hence, he gets extra space to put crosses in. What would happen if he's put in the LAM position where he's marked and doesn't have the space to run into? He's not someone who can beat a defender one on one with fancy footwork. Can't see him doing well if we push him forward. Just think he's fine doing what he does in the Championship, but PL quality leaves him exposed. | | | |

I think he was unlucky because of how he played against Villa, but I also think it was the right call to bring Davis back in if he's fit.
I'm not sure I agree with the narrative around 'Davis can't defend'. He can defend, but like any defender, they have lapses in concentration or moments that do cause mistakes. I think overall he has performed well in his first full season playing regularly at this level, but I'm sure he would admit there have been times he will look back on and could have done better. As long as the coaching team are helping him improve on where he has made mistakes, then he will get better and erase those mistakes, but he can defend and I think it's a bit lazy to say he can't.
If you compare Davis with Tuanzebe, it's quite obvious who is the better defensively but also quite obvious who will offer you more offensively. There's very few who are perfect defensively and perfect offensively. |  |

I really don't understand why this hasn't been tried along with Taylor playing a more forward roll. If we lose the next couple of games then there is no reason not to experiment with different players in different positions. Some have already played in positions not necessarily their best. | | | |
