I wont miss VAR 23:06 - Apr 5 with 1230 viewsnorfsufblue

Absolutely killed the "moment " in all three goals and changed nothing... i hate it... How could they* have got it so wrong in implementation!

* whoever "they" are?

It was a terrible idea and a can of worms from the very beginning. Anyone who supported it should feel silly.

The football authorities gave in to whiners like Charlie Austin and Neil bloody Warnock just because they were on the end of a couple of anomaly decisions.

But we had to go and try and make the game perfect.

Credit to Wolves fans for booing and singing about VAR for our goal.

Really didn't see the reason why it took so long with our goal, looked obviously onside. Their first goal looked the most debatable - although I've only seen the angle once - and that was the one they looked at most cursorily.

They were looking at multiple incidents for our goal. O'Shea offside, O'Shea climbing on defender, Delap offside.

They were also looking at a possible push in the back by O’Shea for ours. Weird on the TV because you don’t get an exact side on angle. Was trying to go by the 6 yard box and both looked on.

In fact both might have even been behind the ball.

Is TWTV coming out tonight? I’m trying to put off doing my taxes!

Ah, offside came up on the screen as what was being looked at and nothing else.

I'm guessing not this evening, Jim is doing it and had something else on.

Our monitors only mentioned the Delap offside.

THAT is the problem; they’re looking for stuff when nobody asked them to. Quick check, was it offside? No. Play on. Instead we get the absurd theater of these unwanted goons sitting hundreds of miles away killing the game week in week out. Fk these people.

The simple fact about VAR is that it has not improved the game, in fact it’s completely detrimental in its current implementation. Trouble is when have you ever heard the FA put their hands up and say we got this wrong. Gutless.

Sitting around for minutes after each goal while TV footage is analysed in forensic detail to look for reasons to disallow goals is damaging my enjoyment of football. Football should be about an instant release of joy when we score, allowing us to celebrate the moment.

One of the greatest moments was a year ago when Sarmiento scored the injury time winner against Southampton. There is a poster of it outside the stadium. The joy I felt lives with me to this day. Now, just imagine if we had VAR. I know I could not have celebrated the goal as I did that day.

I think VAR needs to give instant decisions, immediately communicated to fans, or it needs to be scrapped.

that's one of the big problems with VAR. After every goal, some jobsworths in Hounslow pore over ever incident in the previous 30 seconds, hoping to find some spurious reason to chalk off the goal. The point of VAR was to eliminate "clear & obvious errors" e.g. a blatant offside or a penalty kick where the foul was a yard outside the box. Instead, it's sucking the life out of football.
