I was listening to 5 Live the other day and Nicky Campbell was interviewing someone high up in the IDF. Much like our own brand of far right grifter, their main tactic was to try and talk over everyone, not directly answer any questions, ignore any evidence put to them that countered their view, and parrot mistruths about what is actually happening on the ground. It was quite something.

Nope, I haven’t been able to listen to it for several years now for fear of throwing the radio through a window. It’s the worst of the BBC after QT. Ridiculously biased presenters and editors.

He’s another one I can’t stand. And Naga Munchetty who’s on after. They’re both the same - talk over everyone, patronising, and yes clearly have agendas. Plus the callers from the public rarely add anything other than sensationalist hot takes.

I avoid R5 normally in the mornings because of them, but did catch it a few weeks back and they had stand in presenters on (I can’t remember who unfortunately). It was a breath of fresh air. Complex issues dealt with sensitivity (one was a quite exceptional piece with the daughter of Bhim Kholi, the elderly dog walker who was murdered by teenagers in a park in Leicester). They gave time for discussions to breath and develop, and didn’t interrupt guests. Both had experts and/relevant guests on rather than random inexperienced members of the public or lobbyists. I remember thinking it was such a contrast and being a bit sad that such good quality radio is waiting in the wings but rarely given a chance.

It wasn't Nicky Campbell doing the talking over on this occasion, he was the one being talked over. The number of times he had to say "please let me finish my sentence" in the space of a few minutes was quite astonishing.

Sorry, yes I was just going off on a tangent. I can’t stand the bloke’s show. He’s a terrible presenter imo.

Anyway, I’ve listened to the This Morning interview now. Quite incredible. Robinson actually dealt with it very well and couldn’t do much more to challenge him. Very balanced intro too. The Israeli spokesman is off his rocker though. Absolutely nuts.

The same David Mencer from this interview with Sky then? Horrendous individual - I might be wrong here but I'm sure he headed up Labour's Friend of Israel a few years back.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Odd, isn't it. The Jews were the victims of fascism in WW2 and now the, or rather the Israelis, are behaving like those very fascists.

Yep. The Israeli Government and their friends certainly are bullies and fascists, whilst hiding behind the horrendous genocide of the Jews in WW2 whenever they are challenged. They are disgusting people.

Edit - just to add it was good to hear Nick Robinson talk about the Israeli people protesting. Brave people. This is a regime that has no problem disappearing people who resist it.

I agree with you on most things, but I actually like Nicky Campbell. I can see how he's not everyone's cup of tea but I quite enjoy his show.

Totally with you on Naga Munchetty.

She seemed to get 100 times worse after being reinstated following calling Trump racist.

In light of the comical claims made this is well timed...

An internal US government analysis found no evidence of systematic theft by the Palestinian militant group Hamas of US-funded humanitarian supplies, Reuters reports.

The analysis, which has not been previously reported, was conducted by a bureau within the US Agency for International Development and completed in late June.

It examined 156 incidents of theft or loss of US-funded supplies reported by US aid partner organisations between October 2023 and this May.

It found “no reports alleging Hamas” benefited from US-funded supplies, according to a slide presentation of the findings seen by Reuters.

The findings challenge the main rationale that Israel and the US give for backing a new armed private aid operation.

A State Department spokesperson disputed the findings, saying there is video evidence of Hamas looting aid, but provided no such videos.

The spokesperson also accused traditional humanitarian groups of covering up “aid corruption.”

"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."
