Blackburn Rovers will be ordered to play Ipswich Town again over a full 90 minutes by the EFL.
Rovers wanted the 1-0 scoreline to stand after the match was abandoned in 80 minutes - with the
Tractor Boys down to ten men. But this was turned down.
And their appeal to only replay the final stages with that advantage has also been tossed out by the EFL board.
The eight-person committee, featuring three
Championship clubs, decided there was no precedent for playing out the final stages that way.
Blackburn are unhappy with the result and now have to start again and find a date in their diary.
It is a huge relief to Ipswich who lobbied for the full replay after pushing for the game to be called off on Saturday. [Post edited 25 Sep 2025 14:38]

As someone else commented, the ire should be directed at the inability to fulfil the fixture i.e. at the owners.
Rovers fans should also not forget the pitch made things farcical long before the actual abondonment. And that ref proves his incompetence yet again. Is it only in Town games? I'm not paranoid but... oh hang on, I actually am! | |
