Our leading scorer. Not only tonight's 2 glaring misses but he ought to have scored against Charlton, twice against West Brom, hit the post in two other games. Those alone would have him on 6 and he's really not played all that much. Will he come good? I hope so but I couldn't imagine prime Daryl Murphy (or big Keiffer for that matter) squandering either of those headers this evening. The first one was, quite frankly, an appalling miss. Our recruitment in the striking ranks has been a huge failing for a few years now. Delap aside we have looked way short for 2+ seasons. |  |

Think that's a bit silly tbh - just saying every shot should have gone in which is plainly daft and could be said of any player.
The first one was a bad miss but the 2nd was a good save - don't think he could have done much more than he did really.

As a striker I want to see the intelligence and making the right runs, being tin the right spot and doing the right things which I think he is.
No striker is scoring every big chance they get really but par for his chances would be probably around 3.
We have to stick with him and it will come. He has missed quite a bit of football, in a new country and new club. He's getting sporadic minutes. It's tough for a striker to just hit the ground running with all that.
You mention Moore. He's a classic example of someone who really struggled for goals for us when first arriving and in and out of the team. Took him a long time to get going in his career. | |

I don't think he has a bad goalscoring record at all for a 22 year old. Look back and he was playing as an 18 year old lots of games. I doubt many were starts but regardless how many 18-19-20 year olds are prolific? He's still scored 25 goals already as a young striker. That's not bad for his age at all and he's been increasing his goal output.
He's now in a place to kick on. I could see him getting on a run with us and that's the hope. | |

Its about confidence and in some ways age.
People talk about Daryl Murphy as if he scored 30 goals every season, he didn't. On that rare season he did score all those goals, even he made the point its was one of those seasons if he completely mis-kicked a ball it would hit his head and go in. But the important thing was the scoring had given him so much confidence, he would try any shot expecting to score without even thinking about it.
Moore has made the point when he was younger and missed chances (as all strikers do) it would play on his mind. But as he has aged, he doesn't worry about missing chances, because he knows it happens to every striker and the important thing just to continue getting into scoring positions and ultimately you will score.
We have a few attackers, Azon, Akpom, Szmodics who need a goal to help with confidence.
Also to be fair to the clubs recruitment team we have Szmodics, Akpom and Clarke, if you look at their scoring record in the Championship over the last few seasons I don't think they could have recruited better.
Also let's remember when we recruited Moore in the Championship last time I would estimate 50% of fans moaned about ffs we need a goal scorer and its not Moore. |  | | |
