It was always my understanding that if the two clubs couldn’t agree on a date then EFL stepped in and dictated when a game would be played.
Discussions between the two clubs are being kept quiet. The other game Southampton have to rearrange is away to Wrexham. If Wrexham v Southampton is played midweek, last week of the season, then Wrexham have to play Coventry, Middlesbrough & Southampton over an eight day period. Wrexham aren’t going to want that. Suspect EFL will want us to play Southampton before Portsmouth. |  |

As said I reckon they were waiting for the cup games to be done before confirming, just in case.
Been said on here that it will be the 14th April but that could change now with the Southampton situation.
