Trying to recall, I think Football Focus was on in the 12:20pm slot, and then On the Ball with Saint and Greavsie came on around 1:05pm over on ITV. Consumed it all, met mates at Stoke Park at 2pm and then off to the game. TWTD

Yep, normally followed this piece of music, which still for me says Saturday more than any other piece of music written.

Incidentally, the full version of the Grandstand theme is here, but prepare yourself for the middle part you never heard, which is somewhat unexpected.
I think the issue with some of these programmes is they try a bit too hard to appeal to the demographic that's consuming their football through other mediums. Last time I watched Football Focus I thought it was a bit weird, they were doing some 'street tekkers' TikTok thing and it all felt a bit "Gen Z". I don't think people are rejecting it because it’s not TikTok enough, they’re just consuming football in totally different ways. They end up trying to mimic social media inside a traditional broadcast channel.
It felt like a desperate attempt to appeal to a younger demographic that's maybe never going to watch Football Focus anyway. Its like Saga Cruises booking Dua Lipa as it's headline act.
Better off going full Rod Stewart and starting every show with a grainy 90's football montage of Alan Shearer banging in volleys set to Oasis songs.
Or maybe I'm just getting old.

I loved it as a kid was a staple of my Saturdays, but its def become less relevant and people can pick up better / more relevant club content from podcasts in general.
I kind of feel sorry for my kids not having the routine of that kind of 'linear TV'.
""Alex Scott is one of our finest presenters, is hugely popular across the men's and women's game and is a big part of our present and future," Hmmm....yet the viewing figures plummeted when she took over.

Yeah, I mean like others have said, it was a staple of your Saturday before you trotted down to Portman Road or tuned into Radio Orwell for updates from Bryan Knights every fifteen minutes.
But times change - when Radio Suffolk started commentating on every game it blew my tiny mind - and then you get to today, and by my reckoning, the QPR game will be the THIRTIETH match Sky have shown of ours this season. (The Wrexham Cup game being on the BBC of course). I can't see the 3pm Saturday blackout holding for much longer.

Your dogwhistle is actually a foghorn mate.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

sad, one of those things i watched every week from aged 10-16, just like football italia.
changing times though, eh?
I find it a rather poor imitation of what it once was to be fair. On the occasions I'm home on Saturday lunchtime Mrs C always asks me if I want to watch it.
And every time I say, "Nah, put some of your cooking stuff on", (and she's still no cook, except for Sunday Dinners)

Go woke go broke they tried to tick too many boxes
I don't think that's necessarily true. The articles and stuff away from match action became increasingly boring as clubs became more secretive and wouldn't allow the same levels of access as in the 80's and 90's
That change from having a willingness to work with external media to using their own media for web content was the death knell for FF.
Blaming it on 'wokeness' and by which I assume you mean the gender and ethnic mix of presenters is pretty unseemly.

Talking of getting old...i remmeber "Football Preview" which was included in grandstand around 12,15ish,(late 60s.early 70s)with Sam Leitch which was the pre-cursor to football focus and On the ball...TWTD

Imagine being so feeble that you switch off the telly when you see a women or non-white person in it.

It's utterly irrelevant what someone has in their pants or what their ethnicity is
When you come to Portman Road & interview 2 club legends (John Wark & George Burley) & you don't have the respect for where you are & who you are lucky enough to be interviewing, that you mix them up/get their names wrong, you've got to expect to lose viewing figures
Any time she's on, I switch off or over for this reason ONLY & not for any reason that 'wokeness' would have me accused of

Saga Cruises booking Dua Lipa is the best analogy I've read in a long time! And imagine the potential heart attacks from the male customers aboard that ship! 😂
