Agreed, I’ve no idea why people are saying it’s anti football. If they tried to play like Croatia did we would have torn them apart.

anti-football

noun [ U ]

uk /ˈæn.tiˌfʊt.bɔːl/ us /ˈæn.t̬iˌfʊt.bɑːl/

A style of playing football in which trying to prevent the opposing team from scoring is more important than scoring goals yourselves. Many people consider this style to be boring and against the principles of the game.

They are well within their rights to play it, it worked, but it is 'anti-football' by definition.

more than happy to escape that game with a draw and no serious injuries (that we know of...)

Ghana were robbed an absolute stonewall penalty

They were brilliant, had a solid game plan and executed it well. Queiroz is a wily old fox and managed the game really well.

That said, it really did raise some questions about the England squad selection. Spence looked like a League 1 player, Reece James looks knackered already, and there are no real alternatives, and we really do look like we're struggling to find a spark at times. It feels as though if it isn't coming from Rice or Bellingham it isn't coming at all. Really intrigued about how we approach the knockouts!

Their right back, who I think is at Auxerre, was excellent.

I think the 'anti football' is a comment made in relation to sh1t housery, rather than using a low block.

Ghana fulfilled their game plan, but our attacking and wing play was poor.

Hopefully it was a kick up the back side and we will improve.

That game was crying out for Dan Burn.

They were good in the same way a Mick McCarthy team is good. Defensively sound, work hard and put bodies on the line.

Not a fun watch but tactically sound and well drilled.

England were still comfortably the better side but couldn't take the few chances they were able to get.

More than one way to get a result and that's why we love football. So many different type of game.

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?
