Boss Jim Magilton was simply pleased to be in the second round of the Carling Cup for a change after Town's emphatic 4-2 victory over Leyton Orient.

Magilton said: "It's nice to be in the hat for a start. Overall, I'm delighted. There was huge disappointment after Saturday. Expectancy levels have risen through the roof.

"Those lads who were selected have given me a problem. I thought their attitude and application was top rate. Two goals in two minutes for us killed the tie off.

"It's always difficult for players that have worked hard during pre-season and then not to be included in the 16 on the first day of the season, so I wanted to change things around a bit after the Preston game.

"I made up my mind that I would do that in the competition this season after we lost at MK Dons last year and some of the lads out there have staked their claim for a place in the team at Burnley.

"I was pleased with the overall work ethic. If you into a game like this and feel you can play in second gear you're going to get punished, as we've found to our cost in previous seasons.

"The Orient players would have relished coming here and I told my players they had to play with aggression and pace if we were to get through a difficult match.

"They did that and showed some excellent play. The lads deserve a lot of credit for their application and attitude.

"We got the start we wanted with two good goals. Danny is always going to be hard to stop if he is isolated against a defender and Tommy's finish was excellent.”

Magilton was pleased to see Jon Walters and David Norris return to action: "It's good to have them back. Jon was unfortunate not to score but his enthusiasm for the game is infectious and David will be all the better for the 30 minutes he had out there."

Orient boss Martin Ling was less pleased with his side's display: "I thought we folded in the first half.

"For me, that's not an acceptable performance, even if it was a League One game. I just think we made it easy for them.

"We were good for five minutes but that's not enough. I just felt we allowed them to pull us apart.

"The goalkeeper [Glenn Morris] didn't cover himself in glory. He would be the first to admit that."
