Keane Happy With Point
Keane Happy With Point
Sunday, 25th Oct 2009 00:13

Boss Roy Keane was happy to take a point away from Town’s visit to Plymouth having gone behind in the first half. Argyle manager Paul Sturrock says he will consider appealing against Darcy Blake’s red card.

Keane said: “I could have a go at my players for not hitting the target more but Plymouth defended unbelievably well. It's important to recognise that.

“You only have to look at Quinn's chance and the defender running back and clearing off the line.

"I guess when you go one down away from home, particularly with the ball taking ages to come back in when it goes out of play, we have got to be contented with a draw. The encouraging thing for me as a manager is that we are creating chances."

Keane was pleased with the way Jon Stead took his chance when it came: "Steady took his goal well and deserves full credit for getting in that position. He gambled on the backpass, but still had a lot to do and it was a cool finish.

"He has not been involved recently but he scored twice for the reserves in midweek, so he's had a good week.

"It's very frustrating but we'll keep going. We'll take the point and move on."

Elsewhere, a tabloid newspaper claims Keane is looking to add a more experienced coach to his staff to help end the Blues’ winless run. Earlier in the season, when ex-Manchester United coach Brian Kidd was linked with a coaching role the Blues, Keane said he wasn’t planning on any backroom changes.

Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock says he will consider whether to appeal against Darcy Blake’s red card for a two-footed lunge on Alan Quinn: "We will have a look at the video and see if Darcy deserved a straight red card. If not we will lodge an appeal but first we will look at the tape.

"Overall I don't know at this stage whether it was a point gained or two dropped. What I do know is that we played with confidence in the first half and when we were a goal up but once we conceded that confidence seemed to be sucked out of us."

Injured animal started this off with me, and I've missed all the fun, thanks for the support CGK, seems many people are underachievers and happy with mediocracy, just as injured animal clearly is. And to answer your question animal, no I wasn't at the game, had to go do that think that makes money I'm afraid, called work. Also, I really don't think any Ipswich fans could be called glory hunters, I'm too young to remember those days, in fact I becaome a fan under the reign of John Duncan, so I think that says it all about why I'm a Town fan, it's my local club. Otherwise I'd be on the Man Utd forum right now if I was hunting glory. And I will continue to support Ipswich whatever league we are in but I just can't see any reason for the situation we are in at the moment. If we were in such a bad posistion under Magilton, and Keane is clearing out his deadwood, how come Magilton never had us getting such bad results?

Buryblue, hello.
Just wanted to be clear, i found fault with your statement that we were rubbish.
Do you really believe that? If so i really cant see how you can call yourself a Town fan.
And for the record mediocrity is not what i aim for, in fact i find it extremely frustrating being in this position, it hurts BECAUSE i support Town.
However, i will support them, wherever they play, and if i am not wrong isnt that what you just said in your post?
I never once accused you of being a glory hunter, no idea where you got that from, i said that if you wanted results, whilst not playing attractive football go and waych Colyoo....that certainly is not being a glory hunter!!!!!!!!! LOL!

I would be wary of allying myself with CGS, just because he has a go at us REAL Town supporters all the time, and says something that seems to back you up,on the whole he just seems to wind up genuine Town fans who go week in week out.

Work is a nuisance, if you have to work when Town are playing I feel sorry for you,but it just goes to reinforce my point...you didnt see us yesterday, so to say we were rubbish is unfounded.

I only write to you in response as i feel that as fans , healthy rivalry between opposing fans is a good thing, running down your OWN team to fellow supporters only leads to dispute.

I have no wish to get overheated with you, just putting my reasons why i took offence at what you said.
I never wished this to get personal with you, and i feel that i havent, and neither have you with me, thanks for that.
However when things do get personal, i feel i have every right to defend myself and my stance.
The one thing that i cannot stress enough is that i LOVE IPSWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB, and cannot abide anyone running them down.....

COYB. A win against Derby, and all of this will seem like a bad dream.
I suspect that you feel the same way, and as Town supporters, this bickering is not good for our wonderful club....and if we can keep trouble makers off of here, well then the world is ok with me

I'm absolutely 100% behind our Manager, I'm enjoying the exciting games & I am totally convinced that the tide is turning & that out fortunes will change very soon now, frankly I believe in Roy Keane & respect his honesty & obvious commitment, I am a very proud Ipswich supporter & will remain so whatever happens this season, negativity gets you absolutely nowhere, remember last season ! I was quite disgusted by the actions & attitude of some so called supporters last season as they set about destroying Jim Magilton, I think it was however time for a change & am totally convinced that eventually we will all be delighted that Roy is our Manager as I already am, it is both good as well as interesting to see how well Jim is doing at QPR perhaps the fans respect him there !

Why could Heaven never beat Hell at a football match?

Well, even if Heaven had all the best international players that have ever lived....

Hell has all the referees!!!!

Injured animal, I see your point. And I am in no way getting personal with you. I enjoy a good argument, discussion and different veiwpoints. If I wasn't an Ipswich fan I wouldn't be on here moaning about the situation. I think I used the word useless earlier, I didn't make any reference to the play being rubbish as I am in no way able to comment on that for obvious reasons. Like you it hurts to see this situation and although I stand by my point that I don't think it's working out currently, if (and hopefully it does) we get that elusive win very soon and that instills some extra confidence in the team which kicks us on to a string of good results, I for one will hold my hands up and say I was wrong about Keane. After all if he does turn things around it save a wholo load a hastle and money trying to recruit a replacement.
Whatever our differences of opionion, I'm sure you'll back me up with this shout, animal : COYB!!!!!!

CGS doesn't go to games, clearly. I would hazard a guess that he is a tabloid reader and thus prone to obvious sensationalism.
Roy Keane needs at least a January transfer window to continue the clear out from JM's reign. Even JM can't believe his luck at QPR and ADMITS he has inherited a far better squad than he left behind.
We're 3 more KEANE signings away from being competitive in the most competitive league in the world.
Get a grip you glory hunters who demand things like 21st century toddlers. You're in a massive minority, fortunately. Most town fans are very smart and can see the bigger picture.
If you need quick gratification, please, indulge your fast food culture elsewhere: I suggest a top 4 premier league team.

Bluelass, I'm hurt by your comments :-) I am a true town fan, I don't get to go to many games, sadly due to work commitments but I can assure you if I could I would be there home and away everytime. I would never boo the team, I've sat (stood lol) and shouted away when we play bad, or good. It's not my fault I can't always make it to a game. The next opportunity I get I shall go, even if this run continues. I wish I could be there. I'm not just saying this, it's the truth I'm just spelling out that I am a town fan and not about to go watch anybody else!
I'm just unhappy with the s'#t results as I'm sure you are, you can't tell me you're not, surely?

Putyabootsonkeano...exactly what i mean.
Its obvious promotion is a far off dream, but there a still hundreds of reasons to be excited about this season, its like the best roller-coaster ride ever, hold on and enjoy the ride.....
Thats all of us, whatever your take on the situation, come January we will all be watching on here every 5 minutes to see who we have been linked with,to see who we have signed.......and moan that we still havent signed David Healy, and that we should never have sold Jordan Rhodes etc....
Just enjoy the wonderful world of being an Ipswich Town supporter, just think you could have been born a Budgie!!!!

buryblue77 - I'm not unhappy and I'm also not happy. However, I see no point in people posting on here who are either not supporters (just here for a bit of fun) or don't actually see a full 90 mins. I also believe in time. In the last 3 years we may have played some nice footie but it never really got us anywhere. Also, since RK has arrived we are rebuilding. That just isn't going to happen overnight. I do not believe we should be doing anything but backing the regime in place right now. IF and it's a big IF we are bottom in January, then I might be unhappy. Until then I will spill blue blood from my vocal chords and back the CLUB, RK and the boys - ALL OF THEM - Because they need us. THEY NEED US ALL - TOGETHER AS ONE

I like your optimism animal, you're winning me over (not in that way lol) just hope bluelass will love me too eventually lol
I've just been speaking from the heart on here today and maybe not the head. I'm not now saying I've suddenly become Roys biggest fan, I'm not anti him either I'm struggling to come to terms with my beloved club, bottom of the league still without a win.

buryblue77 - Maybe I will forgive you because there is passion to be taken into account. Slagging our current regime off though isn't going to make us win 10 on the trot is it? Animal is right in everything he says, as is PutYaBootsOnKeano. You just got to put it in perspective.....Have Jimbo still in charge (and I loved Jimbo for all his efforts) and have a mediocre seasons or try to rebuild a team to take us up in 2 years.....

Of course you are, we all are, it just goes to show how much ITFC means to you, to us all.
Things can and will only get better, for this to happen Roy and the boys need our unwavering support.
If and when ME thinks its time for a change i will support that too, but inthe meantime we have just the one manager, and just the one squad, back them to your utmost, and enjoy the results that will surely start to come....

You see bluelass, I totally agree with your comment, they do need us, and as I've said I'd be there if I could, being a voice supporting the club. However I feel that you think that people like me (regardless of opinion) are not true fans as I do not attend many games. However I'm feeling more determined than ever to get to some now, you never know I may be sitting right next to you singing and shouting at the top of my voice!!!!!
COYB!!!!!!
