Keane Again Linked With Move for Coach
Keane Again Linked With Move for Coach
Tuesday, 27th Oct 2009 08:23

A number of this morning’s newspapers are again reporting that manager Roy Keane is set to add to his coaching staff. Claims that Keane will be bringing in an additional senior coach first surfaced over the weekend.

Ex-England boss Peter Taylor’s name is mentioned by a number of sources, TWTD having first linked 56-year-old with the role at the weekend after he had been spotted at both Town’s recent home games.

One report this morning claims Taylor, who left his job as manager of Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the month, met Keane at a recent reserve match and the pair hit it off. We understand Taylor has been scouting for Wolves since leaving Wycombe.

Early in the season, Keane dismissed reports that he planned to add to his backroom staff with former Manchester United coach Brian Kidd then linked.

These young managers need someone in a mentors role.
In the modern game, you need a management team not just a manager.

This would be an excellent move for the club if the two can respect each others position.

Why don't we just bring in an experienced manager as a new manager, and cut out the middle man?

This would be an excellent move. Proves RK isn't afraid to ask for help. Whilst you can tell he is a very proud man there is also the man that can admit to needing some guidance. That deserves ultra respect. If this story really is true then good on ya Keano.

Peter taylors name mentioned in many circles. Still only press speculation but himself good enough to be manager.
also bluelad7 keen may have no choice in the matter.

Tony Adams as a defence coach?!?!?!? Thats what we need.....

A pivotable part in the Arsenal 1-0 defence days....

Maxijazz,

Tony Adams has admitted he doesn't like people - hardly the ideal choice to close the supposed gap in Keane's man management skillset...

Peter Taylor would be excellent - superb track record with young players

I've always admired Peter Taylor as both a coach and player. If RK is prepared to work with him and sees this as a positive move, rather than a threat, then it would be good to get him on board.

I reckon it's Sir Alex. A nice little earner before he retires, and a lot less stress than Man U

Lets get in Michael Caine. He's a track record with Town players and i haven't seen him in many fillems of late, so i'm sure he's at a loose end. Put Stallone in nets. I hear he is nowt too shy at saving penners.

Or Peter Taylor. Whatever.

How about putting 70 stone Paul Mason in goal? That might stop us leaking goals.

Yeah , Paul Mason's let himself go a bit since his town days..

I hope if this is true it is someone that RK wants and chooses for himself. If it turns out to be someone who is forced upon him. Sparks wil fly and it will all end in tears.

Good idea. Take Keane out of the coaching side of things. That leaves him with team moral and transfers.

Good move if it comes off, certainly can't do any harm in our current position!!

surely cannot take keane off coaching players, well at least let him coach the midfield, common sense

Presumably Keane picked his current coaching staff all by himself?..that hasn't worked has it.

Sounds more like RK being told to get help. A bit like Jim getting Gorman. This is coming from the top.

Like the Magilton & Gorman partnership that we already had you mean ,what ever happened to them ?

Peter Taylor would be an excellent appointment as coach, pity that John Gorman followed jim to QPR really. Burley had the backing of some excellent coaches during his time as well. Would be a real coup if we could get him :-)

if Gorman had been an Evans appointment and not Jim's decision then i think it very unlikely he would have followed him to loftus road dont you?
