Edwards Takes International Break

Midfielder Carlos Edwards says he is taking an international break for the rest of the season to concentrate on his career with the Blues. The 31-year-old has won 78 caps with Trinidad and Tobago, scoring four goals.

Edwards said: “I won't be playing for my country again for the rest of the season. I eliminated myself from selection after the last World Cup qualifier.

“I made this decision because I want to concentrate on my club football and help to get Ipswich up the table.

“It can be difficult to choose between club and country, and for the last couple of games for Ipswich I haven't been at my best.

“The travelling has really got to me recently. I've been really exhausted, so it's good to have a break and recharge my batteries.”

Edwards has made 10 appearances since joining the Blues from Sunderland for £1.35 million in August.

Mark added 17:34 - Nov 13 This is very good news. At £1m for a 31-year-old, we really need Edwards to perform well and he has looked well below expectations thus far. The travelling can't have helped, so let's hope the renewed focus works out and he can play without having to be substituted after 60 minutes.
