Who Was Town's Player of the Decade?
Monday, 21st Dec 2009 11:48

As the noughties come to a close, we thought it was time for TWTD users to name their Town Player of the Decade.

Which player contributed most to the club in the years 2000-2009? Add your nomination in the Comments section below saying why you feel they are worthy of the award and we'll subsequently run a poll on the site involving the most popular candidates.

Kuqi, Counago, Holland, D Bent, Wilnis, Alex Bruce (on his day)

Still no mention for D Wright?? OK I will. He's been one of our best performers the past few seasons when we've been an incredibly average Championship team

Really tried my hardest to decide between DeVos and Wilnis, with Stewart a close third.....
Solely because of the fact his passion for the club matched mine...WILNIS.

Marcus Stewart.

One of the best players to wear the shirt. Never forget the brilliant solo goal in front of the Kop. And it was his goals that took us there in the first place.

Fabian Wilnis, if 90s and 00s would have been Matt Holland

As we are talking about the player of the decade, there are really only 2 candidates:

Wilnis and Magilton.

Stewart and Holland, whilst outstanding players only contributed to a few seasons in this decade.

Mike Pollitt.
1 game, 1 win over Norwich. The man had a perfect record.

@RonFearonsHair - there's no arguing with that! Lol, perfect record indeed.

Tough call.

I'd go for either Mark Fish or Michael Clegg.

Marcus Stewart, then Holland and Magilton . How can anyone say Gio, he played EIGHT games for us, as for Counago, he's been loyal but too inconsistant to be given this illustrious honour.

P.s I forgot about Wilnis, he should definitely get a mention.

For blue blood dedication alone, Fab. Remember all that time he was forced to spend in exile but still remained loyal?

As a player that promised so much (remember this was a big fee at the time) and delivered Marcus Stewart. Someone who didnt promise but did deliver was super Jim. Matty is remebered a fondness for his whole heartedness but player of the decade? No for me

hmmmmm, interesting. have to agree with all the posts about Holland, Bent (D) and of course Marcus Stewart, Magic, Naylor, Wilnis. But anyone notice how these are all players from the early noughties, except Benty. all in their prime when we were premier league! shame we dont have anyone to shout about like these now!!
COYB bring back the early noughties pleeeeeease!!

Has to be Sir Fabian of Wilnis for me. A gentleman and a legend. Some other very worthy names mentioned on here too. Holland, Stewart, Magilton all very good players for us.
Also agree with other posts that we should have a worst player vote, could be very interesting.

Why is this topic not called "Who should be named the 'Marcus Stewart Player of the Noughties' award"? Christ almighty, the bloke got us promoted via his goals in the league and in the PlayOffs and then scored umpteen goals in the Prem, getting us into Europe. Who's done something similar?!?!

petermorris added 21:02 - Dec 20
Uttlesford - The question is at the top of the page - PlayER of the decade. Maybe crop this down a tad? Give us a clue?
