Keane and Coleman Disagree on Time Added On Saturday, 16th Jan 2010 19:34
Town boss Roy Keane had no argument with referee Michael Oliver adding on time beyond the initial four minutes signalled as both teams netted in a dramatic close to the Blues' 3-2 victory over Coventry. Sky Blues manager Chris Coleman strongly felt that the whistle ought to have gone before his side had scored their equaliser.
Keane said: "I had no issue with the time being added on. When they say four minutes it's a minimum of four minutes.
"Even if the game had finished 2-2 I wouldn't have been complaining about the officials - far from it.
"I've said it before but you play to the whistle. I've been taught that since I was six or seven years of age. Anyone who's going to complain about that is out of order."
The Blues boss thought his side eventually got what they deserved despite their injury time wobble: "We had the game won, threw it away and then managed to nick it at the end.
"Ultimately, though we got what we deserved. We played some decent stuff and Pablo's finish at the end was worthy of winning most games.
"It was a good pass by Connor and a brilliant finish by Pablo and you can see what it meant to everyone, the players, the staff and obviously the fans.
"We've not had too many highs. We've won games but we've had setbacks and it was a hammer blow with them scoring right at the end. You think we have seen the end of those days of conceding goals right at the end, so to come back and win it has given everyone a big boost at the club.
"We were sluggish for their opening goal but I thought we deserved to be ahead at 2-1. Then we stopped keeping the ball for some reason.
"We still had chances and Pablo was very unlucky with the one stopped on the line. As much as the goals we gave away were bad, the goals we did score were good goals and we'll take a lot of satisfaction from that."
Coventry boss Coleman hit out at referee Michael Oliver’s time-keeping: "Let's get it right. There shouldn't have been enough time for us to get the equaliser.
"The referee's assistant put four minutes up. We scored in the sixth added minute, so where have the extra two come from?
"We then ended up playing over seven minutes. There's no consistency. Just because he's made a mistake in letting us get an equaliser, he didn't need to make another one to even it up. Two wrongs don't make a right.
"It's bizarre and I'm disappointed because we've scored three late goals in a week. I'll get into trouble for walking onto the pitch and airing my views, because you're not allowed to do that any more.
"But what's going to be done about an extra three minutes? I can't catch my breath. If I'm called up in front of the FA then good, because I wouldn't mind a little chat with them."

Maybe... just maybe... the reason Keane does not think he needs another striker is that he has finally motivated Pabs to live up to his potential day in day out - by keeping him out of the team for so long.... I said maybe.

Season ticket holder but guttard to have missed the game excitment to the last minute. missed towns winner as stormed out wen coventry scored only to b told 2 minutes l8er we won. On the striker that we so desperatly need what about sum one like eastwood or peterbourghs makel smith ( the blond one cant think of his name) wood both offer pace that town so need. OR EVEN YES I AM A TRUE TOWN FAN AND ONES BELOW MAY PROVIDE SUM TLKING POINTS BUT I JUST WANT TOWN TO WIN AND FEEL THESE PLAYERS WOULD HELP. GRANT HOLT ( YES PLAYS FOR SCUM TEAM BUT 23 GOALS ALL READY ) CHRIS MARTIN ( ALSO SCUM BUT GOOD PACEY FINISHER ) MARLON KING ( GR8 CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER EVEN THOUGH BEEN IN JAIL KEANO COOD GET HIM IN LINE )

i think the ref gave us more time because our players were so angry that theirs was allowed, he was making up for it i think. If they hadnt scored the whistle would have gone a lot earlier. Stupid comment from Coleman because he would have lost either way saying 'the whistle should have gone before we got our equalizer'

i agree about holt and martin as well, if scum don't get promoted i think we shud get a big in, cos i doubt we will get either of them this season.

i really enjoyed the game yesterday once we got back into it after conceding the early goal, i thought we played some nice football got a good goal just before half time & the 2nd half well 1st 20 minuets thats the ipswich of old, getting into coventrys faces playing some quality football & that showed with the 2nd goal should never have let it get to 2-2 but a great goal from pablo in the 97th minuet haha, shame i missed it but justice was done in my eyes looking forward to southampton away next weekend and hope to carry on our decent performance and extend the 1 defeat in 15 games. I know our win record this season is not great but it is nice of you to boost the figures a bit for Keane! I am sure that 5 out of 25 would really only make him 20% legend - but glad to see you are being positive anyway!!

yep like alot of people we to went after the coventry goal, thought that was it, then 100 yards outside the ground herd the cheer, mind you the look on every ones faces said it all realey, it was loud enough outside the ground let alone in it lol. my only concern is that when we play wba in a week time that the town formation needs to be spot on and not just lets play all the playsers who are playing well. i felt that the team was unbalnced first half and a bit disjointed with owen on the right and walters upfront. i will still like to see wlaters play wide right, pehaps pabs and wickham upfront from the off, hopefully keano will start like this at southhampton, because will need to be ontop of our game against the brummies, otherwise we will be on the end of a loss. but i think if we play a balnced team then i can see a win. we have a good team now all the midfielders are playing bloody well with norris and grant playing well in the middle, be even better with walters on the right and iether jack or owen on the left. and lets see priskin and john on the bench, these strikers need time on the field . what i did see though was less of them killer passes from midfield to the forwards unlike the other matches like blackpool and qpr but we did get there in the end. so come on you blues, next stop lets see if we can get a good run in the cup and start looking up the table towards that 6th place as its only 10 points away, we dont want to slip up now and start looking over our shoulder again as the whole table is very close this year

We all wanted to see passion earlier in the Year - It's been a while since we've seen a Keeper run the length of the pitch to join the celebration bundle with players and Staff alike. It seems the Keano revolution keeps gathering pace. If we make the playoffs [big ask] we will win them, NO DOUBT about that. History has proven the team that makes a late or delayed run into the top 6 is the one to watch out for. Couple of MASSIVE games coming up, but aren't they all massive from here onwards? COYB

I think we have found UEFA81. He's been hiding behind the alias moyardmadman, if not this bloke sounds EXACTLY like him. Anyway if you're spouting facts, its 1 defeat in 15 that's just under 7% loss rate. Pretty good.

I think there are certian fans who leave early every game. For me its something I have never done since I started following town. From losing to liverpool 6-0 to the games against southampton and doncaster last year I never do it. Anyway what a finish yesterday up there with Magiltons last minute goal against bolton in the playoffs and Neil Thompson free kick at home to portsmouth in the Mid 90's In the space of a minute there yesterday I went from thinking that we might get stucked into a battle at the bottom 3 places but after pablo's chip playoffs are certainly a possibility. 10 points can easily be made up with 21 games left. UP THE TOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
