Healy Deal Complete
Healy Deal Complete
Monday, 1st Feb 2010 16:58

Town have confirmed that Sunderland striker David Healy has completed his loan move to the Blues until the end of the season. Healy, consistently linked with Town during Jim Magilton's time as manager and again throughout the summer, joins his Black Cats team-mate Daryl Murphy at Portman Road.

Killyleagh-born Healy started his career with Manchester United, during which time he spent spells on loan at Port Vale and Preston, eventually signing on full-time with the Lilywhites in 2001.

After a loan spell at Norwich, Healy moved on to Leeds and then Fulham, before then-Sunderland boss Roy Keane paid the Cottagers £1.2 million for his services in August 2008.

The frontman, who has never replicated his Northern Ireland form of 35 goals in 78 games at club level, has made only three starts - none in the league - and 18 sub appearances since joining the Black Cats, scoring just three goals.

The 30-year-old, awarded an MBE for services to football in 2008, is contracted to Sunderland until the summer of 2011.

Well done Roy! The other strikers have hardly set the world alite. These two can be no worse and in my opinion will be MUCH better. Shame about Priskin.

Unbelievably there is still negativity. So what if these players are from Sunderland? Better the devil you know. Some people moaned that we needed a striker - Roy signs TWO and they STILL moan!!!!!!!

2 positive signings, who have yet to kick a ball for us, and still some of you muppets are not happy.

Agreed should have kept Priskin, but i suspect if we had ,then these 2 would not be here now.All very well to say it should have been Pablo, thing is you need someone to actually want him.

I'm pleased with the double loan capture of Healy & Murphy and hope that they can perform and help us to win the vital points we need to avoid relegation. I'm be looking forward to seeing Healy up front and also Murphy whether he plays as a striker or wide on the left. With Civelli out for the rest of the season and Martin yet to perform for us we've been lacking a natural wide midfielder on the left. Whilst we've been got some good midfielders who've played on the left most of them have been central midfielders and so having a more natural wide man to get more crosses into the box would be a good thing as none of our strikers will score goals if we don't create enough chances.

We're in a relegation battle and our support for whoever plays between now and the end of the season is what is needed as with the Championship table so tight it's going to be a very nerve wracking time right up until May.

Good news re Healy! think he can do it for us, real striker and strong, gutsy and audacious at his best.

First few games crucial for him.

Priskin is being managed brilliantly. He cant score for us at the moment, the fans aren't patient [understandably, he;s been awful] and so loan him out to a similar club, start scoring, come back a better player.

Genius Roy, exactly what i'd have done.

He was rotting in this form.

jayjay....murphy has played first team football for sunderland recently..get some facts first before you bring the negatives lol

devontractorboy...keane signed a striker with a gd goal scoring record in the summer it hasnt worked out yet no reason to try a couple that dnt have one lol as far as chpra goes i would have liked to see wayne rooney upfront but A: we cant really spend money on another striker until lisbie and atleast 1 other striker have been permently moved on. and B: chpra or rooney would be unlikey to want a move to us rite now...can you imagine it ...hello mr.chopra your sitting pretty in 4th place with a nice goal tally nice chance of you playing in the premier league again next year..fancy coming to ipswich where we "hope" to do that next year... unless iv missed something about the manager sleeping with his wife or something its unlikely :P

Blueknight85 - heres some facts. Healy — in the league - 18 sub appearance since joining the Black Cats scoring three, yes, three goals. Murphy has made 124 appearances for Sunderland, scoring a mighty 14 goals. Wow.

Everyone is so excited as am i.. But i am left wondering why it has taken until deadline day for this to happen? It wasn't as if we realised today we needed strikers. Strange?!
