Colchester to Appeal Lisbie Red Card
Colchester to Appeal Lisbie Red Card
Wednesday, 14th Apr 2010 09:48

On-loan striker Kevin Lisbie was red-carded last night for a headbutt as his Colchester side lost 1-0 to his former club Charlton at the Valley, ex-Town man Nicky Forster netting the goal. The U’s intend to appeal against the 31-year-old’s dismissal late on in the game.

Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd said: "We have watched the video after the game and we don't feel that there was a headbutt, just two players going face to face.

"I have been in to speak to the referee and hopefully we will get him to have a look at it before we go. However, we will definitely be appealing the decision."

Yesterday, Lisbie, who has a year left on his Town contract, was linked with a possible summer move to Millwall, along with Liam Trotter, who is currently on loan with the Lions.

Trotter was subbed at half-time last night — former Blue Scott Barron replacing him — as Millwall drew 1-1 at Yeovil, Dean Bowditch scoring his 10th goal in 22 starts and four sub appearances for the Glovers.

Meanwhile, Pim Balkestein was back in action after his groin injury as Brentford drew 2-2 at Southend.

The Dutchman, who is out of contract in the summer, is with the Bees until the end of the season and could move to Griffin Park on a permanent basis, although he has said he would prefer to remain in the Championship if he stays in England. We understand the former Heerenveen man is also considering whether to move back to Holland.

In League Two, Ed Upson made his second start for Barnet as his side lost 4-1 at Dagenham and Redbridge. Earlier in the week, Upson extended his loan with the Bees until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Leicester say they expect to have no problem in extending Alex Bruce’s loan to cover the play-offs if they finish in the top six. Bruce is back in action having undergone a hernia operation last month.

Sour grapes from Lisbie because he couldn't get one over on his old club? Would seem consistent with the character of the man as Town fans know him.

Surprised to see Deano's got a good goals per game ratio. Pity he never lived up to his early promise at ITFC

Cool - fine him 2 weeks' wages for violent conduct so we can scrape back a bit of the money we wasted on him (or better still sack him)

I find it hard to believe that Lisbie was on the pitch "late on" and hadn't been subbed, and that he could be bothered to headbutt someone.

The sooner we get this lazy bugger out of our club for good the better.

I was at the game and Lisbie was his typical self, lazy he expects the ball inch perfect to him so he dosen't have to move, over dribbleing and not a goal threat. I didn't see the sending off to be honest but I don't really care I just hope we can get a fee for Lisbie
