Players Back for Pre-Season Monday, 28th Jun 2010 09:04
The Town squad return to Playford Road for the start of pre-season this morning. The Blues start their 2010/11 Championship campaign when they visit Middlesbrough on Saturday 7th August.
Defender Tommy Smith won’t be amongst those back at the club today, the New Zealand World Cup star has been given extra time off and won’t return until July 16th.
Town begin their pre-season fixture programme at Newmarket Town on Tuesday 6th July (KO 7.45pm).
Meanwhile, Town owner and chairman Marcus Evans is being blamed for empty seats at World Cup stadia after hospitality packages were cancelled, according to a report this morning.

Eagerly awaiting news on Luca, if he's back fit it could make a massive difference to our season.

This is a quote from the article mentioned above - ‘It's extraordinary with Evans's reputation as a pirate seller of sports tickets around the globe and the legal actions against him in a number of countries that the Football League still regard him as a fit and proper person to own a club.' Come on Town fans we should be protesting against this man. What is happening to our club? Or to be real supporter do we have to shut up and blindly follow?

Will all the new pre-season training signings Keane wanted be turning up?

The Marcus Evans part of this heading is a bit of a shock, i for one didnt know anything about him , if true , it casts a deep shadow over the club, and go's a long way to explain his anonimity. It casts further fears in my mind about the way the club is going.

How did I know the report would be taken from The Mail? That tawdry rag seems to have its poisonous claws sunk well into Marcus " who has been called the biggest ticket tout in the world. But only by the Mail" Evans.

I am just concearned that the lack of activity will lead keane to panic sign particulalrly at right back. I dont trust keane's judgement on the players he has or those he signs. As keane has pointed out many of the transfers in the championship have been for those out of contract, however keane also stated that a couple of his targets were out of contract players so it begs the question why no progress on them? Have they signed for other clubs(derry maybe one of them). Is the problem that keane is putting players off signing for us?

Signs arent encouraging, come on Roy, give us something to be positive about.... please. Burley has been in a job for less than a week and identified and signed a player.

Spot on Monkey Blue. This situation is becoming more and more laughable by the day... What the hell is Keane doing and what has he done since the season finished - TWO MONTHS AGO?

So i guess the the Mail has seen ME outside all the World Cup grounds. He's made a legit business out of tickets so get over it. As for RK, he's a long way short of getting team sorted by preseason. We've no right back, second keeper, 20 goal striker plus balanced midfield. All possible targets seem to have got settled elsewhere or renewed their contratcs!! I dont have any good feeling about RK at the moment, just hope i'm wrong.

"What the hell is Keane doing and what has he done since the season finished - TWO MONTHS AGO?" Dog walking, talking to the media, playing Football Manager and spening lots of quality time with his family.

I heard that Roy Keane has enlisted Andrew Lloyd Webber ,to help find players,he is going to preside over auditions sitting on his big throne at Playford Rd, its going to be along the lines of the search for Dorothy, and will be all singing all dancing, and keepy-uppies .The final will be Sunday 1st August at Portman Rd.The winner will get a place in team for first 3 games, the runner up will be loaned out. [sorry that may be the other way round i cant remember ] THERE YOU GO, WHO SAID Roy Keane , HASNT A CLUE .

Another article and yet another load of 100% negative comments. Although like others, I am surprised at the lack of signings, when are people going to realise that it is not all RK's fault. If you have to be 100% negative about the guy, at least give a balanced view. It was in fact Clegg who said that ME wants players sold before we sign more. Rightly or wrongly. I suspect to a certain extent Roy's hands are tied, so please stop slating the bloke all of the time. Roy has already said he's identified his targets. It's now up to Clegg and ME to get them. And they haven't. So how is ALL of this Roy's fault?

Come on then...give all us "keane-haters" something to be positive about. What have any of you seen from the great man over the last 13 months that makes you think that this coming season is going to be any better?
SouperJim added 11:45 - Jun 28
Good shout for a 3-5-2 Mr BlueBoots! I'd be happy with that lineup too, although Chopra for Priskin would be a big improvement. All you whingers need to look at it this way, if you're right then Keane will be gone by xmas. Personally I'd rather be optimistic and try to get the most enjoyment out of supporting Town that I can, but every cloud has a silver lining.
