Town Set to Complete Fülöp Move
Town Set to Complete Fülöp Move
Tuesday, 3rd Aug 2010 08:53

Town are expected to complete the signing of keeper Márton Fülöp this morning. The Hungarian international is understood to have undergone a medical yesterday with personal terms and a £750,000 fee already agreed.

The 27-year-old is not expected to play in this evening’s friendly with a Spurs XI, but is likely to be in the squad for Saturday’s opening fixture of the season at Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, Town are reportedly one of a number of clubs interested in Leicester frontman Matty Fryatt, who is expected to leave the Walkers Stadium. The Blues, Wigan, Wolves and Hull are all said to be chasing the £1.5 million-rated striker, although Town’s number one target remains Cardiff’s Michael Chopra.

Great signing welcome aboard fulop.
I would test cardiff with a 5-6million bid for Chopra & whittingham that's 40+ goals from last season forget fryatt.

They are probably (it is only a news story after all!) using the fryatt story to put Cardiff under a bit of pressure to accept the offer for Chopra - Cardiff need the cash but want to squeeze us so we get linked to another player to say either accept the offer or we're off to buy somebody else.

Solid signing - welcome Marton!

Fryatt would be a great signing, in some respects better than Chopra, however, Chopra is a bigger name and will play well under Keane!

Here's a scenario - We get rid of Walters, then sign both Fryatt and Chopra, giving us a front three of, Frattm Chopra and Wickham (Priskin while CW is injured) - Goals - Goals - Goals!!

Fulop is a great signing. When he played for us everyone wanted him to sign on. Great shot stopper, commands box well and decent distribution.

Please Please give us 1.5 million for Fryatt!! we'll use it to buy Chopra ; )

Yep go lower league scorers rather than ex Prem - hungry players - Lambert , Fryatt or Austin would be a good coup - still need a Right back and a Creative middie

Also,
he is the same nationality as Priskin, which might help the lad settle and hopefully achieve his potential.

Marston

What happens if Keane leaves? Shouldn't that read " What happens when Keane leaves, hopefully before xmas?"

Like Albran, I think us being linked with Fryatt is more to do with putting pressure on Cardiff... A good idea if they are stalling. Fryatt is a decent forward, but I would prefer Chopra to be honest... let's hope this makes cardiff see sense and accept our offer.
I also liked the earlier shout of going for a double swoop of Whittingham and Chopra... 2 proven goalscorers that we know can play well together and Whittingham is an attacking midfielder, which is even better! Good shout! (But probably a little expensive!)

As far as Furlop is concerned... I've said it before... good signing.

Keep the faith!

Granted Murphy hasnt done anything wrong.....its just that Fulop is a much better GK and Id hope it wont be too long before he's the Town's no1

Boltzak - My point was that we are looking to sign a proven chamionship goal scorer. That is what we did when we signed Stewart, thats what we are trying to do now.

Your point about the premiership is sooooooo irrelevant.

The advantage of signing a player from a strong Championship team is that it weakens one of our rivals as well as improving our squad. This would be especially true of Cardiff, who would be unable to spend the proceeds on new players.

PS Has this gone through yet? Can't help noticing it's not this morning anymore.

OK, so how do umlauts work in Hungarian? How are we supposed to pronounce his name? In German it would be something like "Fer-loep" (very roughly!), but Hungarian is completely different...

This is the 12th Fulop story in about 2 weeks. Even neutrals at the Guardian are holding this 'saga' up as typical of the very slow summer in terms of transfers. Story #13 will be the actual signing and #14 (in about 2 days) will be 'Fulop breaks leg in training'.

Boltzak- What point are you trying to make? Do you want us to sign Marcus Stewart again, is that what point you are trying to make? If not then comparing Marcus Stewart to Chopra is completely irrelevant. Chopra or Fryatt would be a great signing for us as we have been stuck in the Championship for what will be 9 seasons, talking about premier league records is pointless right now, especially wrong premier league records!

There's every possibility that we will pass not only 'this morning', but also 'this afternoon'.
The question of course that needs to be debated is when does 'this evening' actually begin?

5.00?

Thanks Wadzilla.... good to see someone else understands my point... I would imagine the point I was making was clear to all..... except boltzak perhaps.
