TWTD understands that the Blues have suspended U18s coach Mike Pejic. Academy manager Sammy Morgan took control of Pejic’s side for yesterday’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at Playford Road.

The 60-year-old only joined the Town academy in June after leaving his position as head of youth coaching at Plymouth Argyle.

No one from the club was available for comment on Sunday.

The Chesterton-born left-back, who made more than 350 appearances for Stoke, Everton and Aston Villa between 1968 and 1980, started his management career with Leek Town and Northwich Victoria, subsequently moving on to become youth coach at Port Vale.

After a spell in charge at Chester City, Pejic, who is half-Serbian, became regional director of the North East FA and also managed Malaysian side Selangor, two years after Kiwomya had a spell at the club.

Pejic won four England caps in the early seventies and was famously dropped from a squad by manager Joe Mercer because he "didn't smile enough".

Elsewhere, former Town midfielder Finidi George has been named the director of international football at Spanish club Real Betis, one of his sides prior to his unsuccessful two-year stint with the Blues between 2001 and 2003.
