Loughlan and McParland Leave Town
Loughlan and McParland Leave Town
Thursday, 13th Jan 2011 16:45

Town have confirmed that coaches Tony Loughlan and Ian ‘Charlie’ McParland have left the club.

The pair joined Town under Roy Keane’s management and it is little surprise that they have departed in the wake of the former boss’s sacking last week.

Chief executive Simon Clegg paid tribute to the duo: "I'd like to thank both Tony and Charlie for their commitment to Ipswich Town during their time at the football club and wish them every success for the future.”

Loughlan, who has been close to Keane since their time together at Nottingham Forest, joined Town when the Irishman came to the club in April 2009 and McParland was added to the staff seven months later.

While TWTD understands that reserves coach Chris Kiwomya will remain at Portman Road, there is as yet no news on goalkeeping-coach Jim Hollman and fitness coaches Antonio Gomez and Simon Thadani.

So where does all of this leave Gary Ablett? After all, McParland only returned to the club to keap Ablett's seat warm while he had treatment.

Charlie first to admit i was very hard on you after Chelsea but can see now you were just gutted to be leaving..... last night was as stroke of genious, if only you had been able to influence and assist keane more it could have been very differant. That hug you gave Prisken summed up your feeling and arm amiable approach. Saw on football league show how you had a massive pop at the media for putting town down, i really believe you were a true blue! Good luck wherever you go. Chris K, Prisken came over to you after he missed the first attempt, you clearly gave him the message to keep going and a goal would come, you will go a long long way in this business, i stil remember what a cheeky chappie you were as player (oh and when you asked me out one day and got miffed as i pretended i had no idea who you were!)..... onwards and upwards and may the new staff prove a success..... Charlie we love you !

Thankyou Charlie. You made me cry twice in the space of 4 days. I was hurting like hell on Sunday coming out of Stamford Bridge and then I re-discovered the pride of being a Town fan again against Arsenal.

I feel like you gave me my team back again. Thankyou.

A magnificent turnaround. Good luck mate

Absolutely shocked that last night never earnt them some thing at Portman Road in the way of employment.

Very hard to comment regarding Roy Keane, i really do believe these men were kind of gagged whilst Roy was here, then when Roy leaves within two matches "hey presto" a completely different looking Ipswich for many reasons.

I just hope they realise what i think and stick together and do another Club proud as they did for Ipswich Town last night and maybe stay away from Roy Keane!!

Would like to thank Charlie for last night, a night that will live long in my memory and a night when i remembered what a real football match was like.
Good luck to Tony aswell but i always thought he was just Keane's yes man/lacky to be honest

I must admit I did think these two were just Keane's yes men, but have been surprised and pleased at the way the team responded to them. McParland has also shown a great deal of passion for the club and conducted himself with great dignity when dealing with the media. I wish them both well.

sorry to put a dampner on their departure but here goes;
if RK was "managing" the squad and these two were "coaching" then who's repsonsible for the complete mess we're in?

Up until a couple of years ago ITFC were renowned for the way we kept the ball down and "played" footy. Indeed, many of my fellow north standers often said they could put up with defeat as long as we "played" football and made a game of it.

It's apparent the coaching has changed.
We now regulary "hoof" the ball up field and immediately put the pressure back on ourselves when struggling. Our defence is fragile when under pressure and often collapses when under pressure.

Our set pieces are the laughing stock of the league. Corners especially so.

This has been "coached" into the players, this was not our style until these 2 and RK appeared.

Sorry but I'll be glad to see them go.
Charlie leaves on a high because the players decided, for the first time in 2-3 seasons, to turn up and earn their money.

'Nuff said.

I don't think we'll ever know how much McParland did for us while he was here, and how bad things might have been under Roy Keane without him. Best of luck Charlie.
