Jewell Will Look for Loanees
Jewell Will Look for Loanees
Saturday, 5th Feb 2011 08:17

Town manager Paul Jewell has confirmed that he’ll be looking to add to his squad when the ‘emergency loan window’ opens on Tuesday.

Jewell said: “What I want to try and do is improve the squad and give the players here help. We’re not the biggest squad in the world, but I’m not going to bring anyone in for the sake of it, I’ll only bring someone in if they help our cause and helps the lads that are already here.

“I don’t want to say to you that I’m definitely going to bring someone in in this position or that position, I’m just looking to try and improve all the time, like any manager.”

Having failed to land Charlie Austin last week, Jewell may target another striker, while a right-back could also be on the Blues’ boss’s wish-list.

Meanwhile, Town are amongst a number of clubs to have been mentioned in connection with former youth coach Terry Westley, who is expected to leave his job as academy director at Birmingham City.

Westley, who worked with the likes of Kieron Dyer, Richard Wright and James Scowcroft during his spell with the Blues, has also been linked with West Ham and Leeds.

After leaving Town, Westley worked as a youth coach at Luton - where he was also briefly first team manager - Wigan, Charlton, Rushden and Diamonds and Derby.

Town recently advertised for an assistant academy director to work under Sammy Morgan.

If we can players such a Bullard, I'd be very happy!

Why not reduce the ticket prices a touch until the end of season and I'm sure fans would flood back, they'd not be much difference in receipts hopefully but a full ground will boost the players (and fans) and always nice to watch a new face etc . . .

WBA charged £1 for kids for the Sky Game and £12 for adults, with the Sky income offsetting the receipts = good crowd and happy Dad's wallet.

Whilst it would be nice to 'Give the players a boost' with loan signings, I'd rather see the Fans get a boost too!

Cleggy, sort it out.

Corshamblue. Agree wholeheartedly about ticket prices. Surely the club would benefit from the increase in planet blue sales & catering sales as well as larger attendances inspiring the team. We may even gain a significant number of new supporters as well, especially with season ticket renewal rearing its head again soon. As for any loan signings, lets see how Edwards copes today at right back before we end up getting in anyone else. COYB

A right-back has to be a priority as there isn't one at the club.

I agree about ticket prices. Let's get people through the gates to support this new era at Ipswich Town, as they could become future season ticket holders and life-long supporters. At the moment I pay under £21-a-month on my season ticker but the casual fan wanting to buy a seat in my block on the day can be charged £35!

There is a pre-planned promotion on the Portsmouth game where season ticket holders can buy four tickets for £10 each. See www.itfc.co.uk where you will find the Portsmouth game is promoted with a big Cardiff logo. Come on Town, sort this out, it is poor!!!

If you think we should look at edwards as a right back you clearly didn't go to the derby game...

Lower the ticket prices for behind the goals to £25 for starters, just see if that tempts people back again...£33.50 on the day is a joke, many fans wanting to support the Club have to travel and we simply can't afford it, wake up Clegg, why do you think Norwich and Leeds are doing so well at home? Good ticket prices and in turn putting bums on seats generating an atmosphere - this alone gets people coming back supporting their team....or shall we carry on as we are watching gates drop further??

I get the feeling when Paul Jewell says he will get in load players it will happen, unlike all the false promised made during Keanes era. Two new players , RB and striker could be the two pieces of jigsaw we are missing to push on, maybe a bit late for the play-offs but who knows, remember Sunderland and Palace in recent years.

A couple of new faces would be good, but based on the latest performances and results there is no real hurry. COYB!

we need a forward with a bit of pace so bullard can add to the range of superb passing he has already shown us,and yes of course a right back.
