Priskin's Swansea Move Confirmed Thursday, 24th Mar 2011 18:13
Swansea have confirmed that Town striker Tamás Priskin has joined them on loan until the end of the season. The Hungarian’s former Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has been targeting the 24-year-old since he took over at the Liberty Stadium in the summer.
Rodgers said: "I looked to bring him in at the start of the season, but it's only now that he's become available.
"I worked with Tamás at Watford where he was outstanding for me and at 6ft 2in he can offer us another threat and balance for the remaining games.
"He is a player who can add goals to our squad and ensure we have enough cover for the final eight games of the season.''
The move could well be made permanent in the summer with the Hungarian having a year remaining on his Town deal.
Priskin's exit means that Town go into the final games of the season short on strikers with Connor Wickham and Jason Scotland the only recognised frontmen currently at the club. However, the Blues have a 24-hour recall on Ronan Murray once he completes the first month of his loan at Torquay early in April.
The Hungarian, who is currently away on international duty, will not be available for next month's game between the Blues and the Swans.
There will be no further moves in or out of Portman Road today with the 5pm deadline having passed.

It gets worse! Will probably cost ITFC even further season ticket sales. Good god - I can possibly begin to understand why we wouldn't spend out on additional players - but leaving us with only two strikers at the club is simply unbelievable. What on earth is Jewell and ITFC doing? Still, despite hearing from certain fans that PJ is a 'two up front man' - this to me is further evidence that he's in fact a very negative one up. We yet again hear from a manager that he intends to bring players in - yet again we fail to deliver. People say that there is nothing to play for but consider this ... it's 20 April and Scotland is injured ... and oh dear - Wickham picks up an injury in training - who will we play up front against Norwich? Recall Murray for such a big game? Abysmal management.

Eastern European strikers always flatter to deceive : Bontcho was the same. Watched the video of 1992-93 recently and everything was going swimmingly until we bought Guentchev and played him instead of the existing strikers. Priskin hasn't had the same negative effect, because there's no-one else at the club who can score regularly either. Let's hope this is the start of the total clearout needed.

Jas assume your referring to me about jewell being two up front, let's have this conversation this time next year shall we!!! I too think its crazy letting him go but who says he isn't on twenty four hour recall and if its a loan with a sale agreed the that's money towards a twenty a season man..... of course keane would have been doing so much better he brought in two twenty a season men Scotland and prisken, wait a minute....

His overall peformance level does not warrant him a starting berth at present. Time to invest in a more reliable striker.

With no one up front we will still score as many goals as we would have done with prisken playing

why is it crazy to let him go? he's done NOTHING for us. we can't get a permanent replacement until the summer, its pointless and costly to get a loanee in now. if we don't get a good striker in the close season then moan all you like. otherwise, good luck tamas, shut the door on your way out please.

Can't see how he's going to fit into a very good Swansea team...hopefully he does well & they take him off us in the summer for some half-decent money. Personally,I couldn't care less whether he ever comes back here...never seen anyone waste so many chances in front of goal...a decent striker would've knocked in at least 15-20 goals for us this season which could've made all the difference between being mid table and actually being in the play-offs..if there's one reason to be thankful for Priskin's woeful ability in front of goal is that it got shot of Keano the clown, and I thank him for that.

I would give peters a go up front, we bemoan lack of pace and skill up top, I think he could do a job, perhaps a revelation even. Stick him alongside wickham.

So now we only have 2 strikers, halleujah!

Baffled by this! I've got no problem loaning Priskin out but i do have a problem with the lack of cover that we now have! ... and don't tell me there's nothing left in this season! That's just utter rubbish unless all the remaining games are friendlies?!?

jaso09 - do you ever stop moaning!!! As for Priskin , not bothered that hes gone he is not in the long term plans obviously and if he does well then they may hopefully buy him. Think its a bit early for the vultures to be circling already over PJ but only to be expected. We have been playing one up front so far and that looks like it wont change THIS season. Bit early for the defeatist's though

What's crazy is letting Ronan Murray go out on loan. Leaving the club with just Scotland and Wickham is like flying a white flag and giving up for the rest of the season. i don't see us giving Naaaaaaaawich a game.
Surco72 added 20:11 - Mar 24
I would rather have Dyer playing off Priskin every day of the week and Scotland as back up both more likely to score than Miskin . Trouble is Swansea having him for 8 games might be long enough for them to see he is only any use 1 in 5 games and then they wont sign him in the summer ,23 goals in 140 championship games and some are worried about losing him ?? Our season is over so we dont need cover its all about building for next season and offloading players and Priskin quite clearly is not part of Jewels plans so why have him at the club for the rest of the season if Swansea are wiling to pay his wages ?
bluearmy4life added 20:14 - Mar 24
I don't have any problems letting Priskin go but stupid with no replacement? Agree with many other posters. There is plenty still to play for. Beating Naarwich, and finishing high up in the table as possible is a must. Where are the goals going to come from? If it wasn't for bullards contribution we could still be fighting down the table.
alfromcol added 20:15 - Mar 24
jas0999 get a grip man! Seems like you have lost all sense of reality. If Fulop and Barrett got injured we wouldn't have a keeper and so it goes on. Martin, Peters and a number of others could play up front and have a goal to shot ratio as good or better than our existing strickers. We haven't had a striker all season, why worry now.
suffolkpoker added 20:16 - Mar 24
We must be saving money and creating a big enough budget to go get the targets PJ is looking at i.e. bullard, sharp, long or cox. It all depends over who comes in over the summer. COYB

Like others have said it is a little bit alarming that he has been allowed to go without us getting another striker in. It leaves us very thin upfront and sods law being what it is you can almost guarantee Wickham and/or Scotland getting injured or suspended now. I know we can probably recall a loanee if that happens but its not ideal. Guess that means 1 up front for the rest of the season which will hardly encourage people to buy/renew season tickets. I know PJ said he wanted 2 up front with wingers but didn't have the players at the club to do that but it would be nice to try. I just hope he gets the players in he wants and needs to be able to play his preferred formation next season. Anyway good luck to all the players loaned out and here's hoping Tamas scores the goals to stop Budgies going up!!!

You say where are the goals going to come from, I have been asking that question for 4 or 5 seasons, Priskin going or staying would not change anything as he could'nt hit a cows arse with a banjo, this just shows that there is a god because I am glad to see the back of him, no appetite for a fight and simply unprepared to go in where it hurts, no affinity for ITFC at all, a foreign mercenary and not a very good one at that, good riddance.
GeorgiDoundarov added 20:22 - Mar 24
While I agree with most of the comments that we are going very light on strikers, I have to ask what is the point of having Priskin as a "number" only if he is no good to score anyways? If it is for having numbers then get me as a "reserve" striker... I will be as equally as useless as Priskin. Totally agree with ITFC_james - since we already have that season lost, why should we pay more wages if we can avoid that. Every penny saved counts - it maight just be the difference for some future signing... you never know! We are already practically safe from relegation and nothing more can be done this season. Let us concentrate on the next one to push for the top 6! As of Priskin - he can marry Brendan Rodgers if he wants and stay with him "till death apart them". He is only good when he play for him if at all...

ITFC_james what are you on about.. if no team had any moaners, well lets not even go there, NO team has fans that don't moan, it is part of the game you complete idiot!

alfromcol - I totally agree, with your sentiments. We haven't had a right back all season so why worry about only having 2 strikers at the club, going into our last half dozen or so matches. Having only scored 5 league goals (9 goals if you include cup games) since joining us, we are hardley going to miss him are we. Yes, Scotland is slow, yes, Scotland is overweight, yes he cannot play the lone frontman but he is our joint top scorer this season, (9 league goals, 0 in cup (as many as Priskin in his entire time here)) so at least he can put them way if given the opportunity. Play Wickham up front and bring Scotland as a sub when defences begin to tire, and we are no worse off than we have been all season.

jason0999 - you're right in what you say. But doesn't this yet again prove, that by the tone of some of these post's, some supporters will be happy with anything at this club. I despair, but let the 'silly billies' renew their season tickets - I won't be one of them at this rate. And before anyone 'harps' on about the Clubs rent increase - even with the increase, it only amounts to a pittance in comparison to players wages, and transfer fees. I forgot - the glass has always got to be 'half full' - hasn't it ? - but it looks distinctly empty to me at the moment. All I can say is thank heavens we are safe, theoreticallly anyway, but where this club goes from here is anyone's guess. Another RUBBISH season - thankfully heading for a close.
